So What Happened?

Well thanks everyone. Childrens mercy is the ones that couldn't get him in til november. Our family doctor has made another appointment with a different ortho. Oh and believe me many things have went through my head!!! Its only the limp with kinda dragging when he runs. Almost as if his leg is "jello" and there is no apperant pain when I ask him or that he shows.

It could be a hip and that needs treated early so get to a doctor now. You never know with kids since they can't explain too well and I would get it looked at somewhere and if there's a problem then maybe they'll get you into Children's Mercy. Are you talking about the south location or the MO one? I'd try both. I know if there is a hip problem it can cause a limp and should be treated very early.

Do not wait to see a specialist, go to a different Dr. This could turn into something long lasting like nerve damage if it goes untreated. There are so many possibilities that could have caused this, like injury that you don't know about, infection in the bone (yes it can happen without breaks in the skin), could be a tumor in the leg somewhere, like others said, something with brain, back, neurological issue.
If the Dr. won't send him somewhere soon, take it upon yourself to make appointment at Children's Mercy, or somewhere in your area, surely someone can get you in. Your Pediatrician or Nurse Practitoner should not be letting this go.

I had a friend whose son started limping around that age and it turned out he had a broken leg...apparently their bones can break easily at that age, but it doesn't always cause a lot of pain. Good luck.

I wouldn't wait that long to go see a specialist. I would actually get him in asap just incase worst case scenario it is something pretty serious. If it gets progressivly worst have him taken to the dr and have his brain checked for a tumor. I know I hate to jump to the worst case scenario but after listening to the st jude radiothon that they do every year there was one who said her son developed a limp and it ended up the brain. I really don't want to freak you out but if it is serious I wouldn't wait til Nov. Ugh I really even hate to bring this up due to what could be totally unnecessary worry. Does he say his leg hurts? Is there any other changes in general that you are noticing? Please don't worry too much but I wouldn't wait. You could try alternative medicine like chiropractor or pt to see if it helps just the sudden onset is odd.

Do not wait; seek another doctor's advice! My son was diagnosed with a degenerative hip disease which presented in a limp. He was 6 y.o.....& this disease can run anywhere between age 4-12. It is called Perthes Disease.

There are many other reasons "why" this is happening with your child. Please seek help!

I would not wait that long to see a specialist. Have they done any xrays or anything? I'm sorry but why on Earth do they want you to wait 7+ months to see a specialist???? I'd see a new doctor and get the referral for a specialist NOW.
My daughter had a broken foot and didn't even complain but she was limping and walked kindof on the side of her foot. She is 4 and I took her to the foot doctor and they did xrays and discovered it.
I hope you get to a doctor asap!
