Hello Everyone,
I have a 3 yr old daughter and for the last couple of days she has been pooping green! It looks hard and its not very much, but still concerned shes not going like usual. Her appetite is the same, she's just hasnt gone potty. I gave her prunes yesterday (6 of them) and thought that would pushed things along but no success. Has any moms experienced this and have any advice on what to do. Thanks! C.

So What Happened?

Hello Everyone,
Thanks to you all who responded. Unfortunately, my daughter is still having some problems not going regularly. Her poop is back to being brown and for the last 5 days I have made some changes... orange/guava juice combo, apple juice (juice not deluted as usual), popcorn, baked beans, corn, etc. and the prunes or raisins dont seem to effect her one way or the other. Massaging her feet/tummy tickles too much... LOL
But I will keep at it... just would feel better if she would at least be able to go once everyday.
Thanks again for all the suggestions!
God Bless,
C.

apple juice works too and whole wheat, high fiber grains and breads. Definitely no bananas.

The advice already given is great but another thing to try is massaging her feet. This always works with my baby. There are pressure points in the feet that correspond to the digestive tract. It sounds weird but my mom is a midwife and told me to do it when my son went a day without pooping. It's normal for some babies to go up to 3 days but not my baby, he's very regular so on occasion he's gone more than a day a little massage to his feet does the trick. Within 30 minutes he's gone.

Hi C.,
I give my daughter a nice pear to eat when she's constipated. They have tons of fiber.
I also rub her tummy in long slow clockwise circles to get her little system moving.
Hope she has a great poop! (something I never would have said before becoming a mom-LOL!)

I am going through the exact same thing, my Dr. wanted her on Miralax, we did it for 30 days, but probably shouldn't have. Yes it worked, but so un-natural and really not a good way to go. This was a fluke but I found this Probiotic Bug Kefir at Legoland of all places, I loved that it was organic and she loved it. So I found it at both Sprouts and Ralphs. I was giving her one a day and realized she was going regularly! I was soooo excited because it was so healthy and natural. Then this week (she will be 3 July 19th) she decided to potty train, which I was avoiding because I heard it makes the constipation worse. So now we are back to major problems and I am again at a loss. I am going to try the popcorn thing that was recommened to you. I try the prunes, dried apricots, prune juice, blueberries, etc, but she never seems to want them when I NEED her to eat them. She is a good eater and there is no reason for her to be constipated other than her hard headedness now! UGH Today we had to give her a baby enema, oh my gosh it was horrible! Torture to all.
A neighbor gave us these pills to try yesterday, because of the cod liver oil in it.

she said you can pretty much buy them anywhere, like Jimbos, Wholefoods, Sprouts, etc. We actually gave them to her yesterday, had her chew it and spit out the outer shell, she loved them. (of course I told her they were candy), she was begging for more. So we will see if it helps.
I hope you can get your daughters under control this is so not fun and I feel for you. I think it is great that you were able to give her 6 prunes yesterday, I would say try again today, a few days in a row may be needed. Here is the link to what we call BUG JUICE, she thinks it is so cool and special. The no spill top is fabulous too, unlike those pesky juice boxes.

Good luck.

Hi C.:
Poor lil girl. You can increase her fruit and veggies. Omit bananas. they can bind her up more right now.I read on another forum, that A mother was adviced by a pediatric nero surgeon to give her toddler a 16 oz glass of (undiluted) Guava and orange juice mix. She claimed that giving her this, enabled her to stop any other medications she had to give her for the constipation. The very best to you and your daughter.

I have found that popcorn has been the best thing for my kids. High in fiber and gets things going. The green may be from something else, I found that if my kids eat something with blue dye, (Gushers, Gatorade, Fruit Rolls) they poop green! Don't know why!! But popcorn and raisins has worked for me!!! Good luck!
