3 Year Old Wearing Glasses

we just found out that my little one is far sighted and has astigmatism in both eyes. She needs to wear the glasses (once they come in) for 4 -6 hours a day. has anyone had a child who wore glasses at this age but doesn't need them now? Any suggestions on how to keep them on during the day during preschool play? She is ok with being "so lucky b/c she has to wear glasses" and wanted to wear the sample glasses home.

What can I do next?

My son wears glasses since he was 9 months old. He took them off at first. we just put them back on. Now 6 years old they are " a part of him" He always wers them. He is responsible and takes care of them. He takes them off at night and puts them back on first thing every morning. It just takes time for them to get used to them. PS. Also telling him that the glasses show off his beautiful blue eyes for everyone to admire, made him feel good. That helped as well.

If her vision is bad enough, she won't take them off once she gets them on because her head will feel better, she will see better, it will make her life easier.

My 8yr old has had glasses for 4yrs now. His eyes will never get better (in fact have gotten a bit worse) but he is extremely far sighted and has astigmatism. Don't put your hopes into her outgrowing it, it probably won't happen. We did and were disappointed.

We are adopting a 3yr old (in Ukraine right now!) and she has strabismus and will likely need glasses too for vision therapy and correction of her crossed eye. So we are back in teh same boat for round 2 with the eye doctors. :)

Get the ones that hoook around the ear. They make some really cute ones, ours were always sparkly, still are and shes 12.
Once she gets used to them she will want to wear them as she'll see better. They may feel diferent at first though, keep encouraging her with lots of praise when she wears them.
Show her right away how to be careful with them too. How to store them on their own shep, or in there own box, ours are always the ones with the most glitz.
Everyone in our family wears glasses so when she got hers it wasn't a huge deal.

I wore glasses starting at 18 months. Today, they make such adorable glasses, I am sure she will feel like a star in them. If they need extra stability to stay on, they have elastic bands that go round the back. Let her know it's ok to play and have fun; if the glasses break, they can be fixed. (Most kids glasses now seem to be so flexible and strong, I bet it won't even be a problem).

Our little boy is far-sighted and got his first pair of glasses right at the age of 2. He hated the fittings, but once he got the glasses with his lenses he argued for 20 minutes and then never took them off. He loves them. I also wear glasses, and stopped wearing my contacts, and he has no problem fitting in.

We got the ones that hook around the ears also until he was 4 and has regular ones. We also get the extra thin lenses as they'd be Coke bottle lenses otherwise. Kids are tumbly and get a lot of wear out of the glasses and lenses. We have to replace the lenses at least once a year due to scratching, and the frames about every two years as he grows.

My son has had glasses since he was two...he's 7 now. He will probably always need them so I can't help you there. When he was younger I used a strap made for glasses that helped keep them on his face. He did take them off sometimes when he wasn't supposed to..sometimes even on the playground at pre-school. They had to be repaired a lot. I think that's just the way it is when they are that young. But the strap did help.

My son is 2 and has had his glasses for almost a year now. We opted for the Miraflex brand bc they are made of very durable plastic. My son has bent them and stepped on them and they still look new. They have a strap that snaps directly into the frame that helps the child keep them on easier. Like aomeone else said if her vision is bad enough you won't have any problems getting her to keep them on after a week or so cause she will be able to see so much better.
