Hi,
My almost 3 year old daughter is doing well with going pee in her pottie, but keeps pooping in her panties we've tired all the usual praise and candy rewards and even stay with her at the time she usually goes, and she will go with us sitting right next to her. Pre-school starts in 6 weeks, HELP!!!!!!!

What can I do next?

Hi M.!
My daughter (now 5) was the same way. She just refused to poop in the potty! We finally told her not to poop in her pullup, that she was a big girl now so she needed to tell us when she had to go (she pee'd in the potty all the time). Well one day (after she didn't poop for several days) she doubled over with a tummy ache. I asked her is she had to poop and she said yes. She was sweating and shaking so I told her it was okay if she pooped in her pullup (she really scared me!). Sure enough she had a HUGE BM!! I felt so bad b/c I felt like she held it b/c we told her she couldn't poop in her pullup anymore.
So, I eased up a bit about it. Soon she started telling me when she had to go! I'm not sure if it just finally clicked or if she got scared by the incident.
Just hang in there, I'm sure she'll come around

Hi M., I made a "Potty Pass" for my daughter. I used clip art w/a pretty potty and space for reward stickers. When she went poop she got 2 stickers, pee 1. At 10 stickers she received a small prize. Within a week or two she was going regularly and she'd forgotten all about the pass. Good luck!

bowel movements are the first thing child learn to control HOWEVER the last thing they let go of. I have not clue why. Your dgt is NORMAL. Try not to worry and keep ENCOURAGING her!

Is she excited aabout preschool? If so try talking to her about how she can no longer go in her pants if she wants to go to school.

Try letting her run around naked. My kids would not poop if they had nothign on, so they were holding it until they couldn't hold it anymore. At that point, they pooped in the potty finally, and didn't have a problem doing it after that.

I know you feel the time crunch, but as much as you are not trying not to put that on her as well it is. Children generally have a hard time pooping oin the potty. It has something to do with "them loosing a part of themselves". It takes watching her signs for when she's goign to poop putting her on the potty and let her know that you are proud but this is where she needs to go potty. When she has an accident she needs to help clean up the mess and get redresses. Jusat be patient and try not to stress her out, and Iwouldd't dangle preschool in front of her like a carrot.
Goodluck!
