i can only tell you my experience - my son was 3 and his daycare had an ourtbreak - they ALL had it. literally. he was the last one to come down with it, and he had sores ONLY in his mouth - and dozens of them :( they went all the way down his throat, and he did not eat solid food for over a week. stopped eating and drinking completely, so we ended up taking him to the ER. they basically numbed his throat/mouth with the dental stuff (forget the name, you know what i'm talking about) and then made sure he got something down, and sent us home. (probably gave us an antibiotic or something, can't remember) what worked best for us was the sore throat spray that numbs, and pediasure shakes. he lived off those for almost a week. it was a nightmare. i hope it's not that bad for you - the rest of the daycare kids didn't have it as bad as he did. just another wonderful parenting experience. hang in there. i would hate to go through that with an 8 month old.
