Hi J.,
Try noticing if he clenches his jaws during the day and massage his cheeks to get to relax.
Try a second opinion for a dentist.
Good luck. D.
Hi moms,
Any suggestions for me on my 3 year old boy grinding his teeth at night. We went on a family vacation 2 weeks ago and I had to sleep with my son. Lets just say I discovered two things that night. Can't get any sleep with my son in the bed and he grinds his teeth all night long. Called Dentist and he said he can't have a mouth guard at this age, because they have had kids choke on them. I'm not sure if this was because we were gone (son is a homebody) or if he does this every night. Any suggestions.... Thanks moms
Thank you to everyone who helped. You all gave me excellant advice. He didn't have a parasite, but that was something I never thought to check before asking you all. Now I will have to try the relaxing tech. and see if they work. Thanks again!!!

Hi J.,
I'm not sure if this is true, but I was told by a holistic doctor that if your young child grinds his/her teeth at night, there is a possibility that they may have a parasite. It is not harmful, but they make organic supplements to get rid of the parasite and they should stop grinding their teeth.
Good Luck!
Dear J.,
The grinding of teeth is often a sign of parasites. Have your son checked for pinworms, etc. by asking your pediatrician to take a stool sample.
Pinworms are treatable in one dose of medication. There are also natural treatments for it and other parasite infestations, too.
Believe it or not, 50% of all kids get pinworms at one age or another.Playing in the dirt or sandbox are common areas where they are picked up. Parasites are also common as a result of travel, even within our country!
Hope this helps!
Blessings!

Hi J.,
I have found that grinding the teeth can indicate a calcium deficiency. We make bone at night while we are sleep. This is especially true of growing children. The growing bones can take too much of the calcium out of the blood and then you get tight muscles (muscles use calcium to relax). Tight muscles are what cause the grinding of the teeth. The tight muscles can cause muscle cramps and other symptoms that we typically call "growing pains".
I usually recommend a calcium made from vegetables. I sell one made by Herbal Healer or you may be able to find one somewhere else.
I wish you and your son well.

My 8 year old son used to grind his teeth at night when he was around 2 years old but he grew out of it. He also used to have terrible nightmares around the same time. Try teaching him how to relax his jaw during the day time so he;s not so tense. And a second opinion from a denist is always a good idea.
