We had the strangest thing happen here last night. I told my 3 year old to go wash her hands and she mistakenly turned on the hot water and scalded her hand. She let out loud screams and began choking and gagging (she has a cold too) She then started dry heaving, and continued to dry heave through the night. Im not sure if this might have been due to stress, or if she just happened to have a bug of some sort and just so happed to start then. She is very sensitive, and vomits frequently when she is sick with a high fever, congestion, and also suffers from motion sickness. None the less she never really vomitted, and I find this soo odd. Opinions please!

My daughter used to do this until she actually vomited. Post nasal drip was usually a combo culprit with personality. Whenever she had a tantrum or got really upset she would do this. When she had a cold which stuffed her up it would get worse.
Eventually it turned out that she did have an enlarged uvula which at first we thought might require surgery but she actually grew into.
My almost 4 1/2 year old son will do that. Usually when he's told NO. I try to calm him but when he doesn't calm down I found blowing in his face helps. It's the weirdest thing.
Aw, your poor daughter. My daughter (almost 2) does this any time she gets very upset. Our dr said some kids are just born with a very sensitive gag reflex. We were told she may grow out of it. I really hope so. So far we cannot do any sleep training with her bc she vomits over and over and then dry heaves for a long time. It is so sad. Anyway, I have no advice for you. I need advice myself on this!
