It will help with infections. Anoids were the villian with both of my kids. They were so big that no matter how much medicine they were given within two weeks of stopping them they had ear infections again. My daughter was 14 months old when we had hers done. She did great. Happy little girl. Before her tubes she had a 20% hearing loss. After, no hearing loss.

Our son was 5 months old with the first set of tubes. He was around 18 months with the second set and adnoids. He was a trooper. He had a little bit of an issue staying awake. He was super tired afterwards but did great. Didn't have any problems afterwards. They are now 24 and 20. No problems. Best decision we every made!

tubes help with ear infections. The tonsils would help with the heavy breathing. My son snored when he was little and we discovered that he had large tonsils. So we had them taken out and he's doing a lot better.

OMG We went through the same with our grandson. The waiting room was half full at the hospital because we were all scared. The surgery took about 10 minutes. He came out of recovery & told EVERONE he saw that now he could hear good. He slept better too. He has had to have tubes put in a second time when he started having ear infections again. He has a wonderful doctor & goes for check ups every 3 months. We were told that he heard words like they were underwater. He is in speech therapy because of this & is so much better.

Loud breathing/mouth breathing is caused by tonsil & adenoids, not ear fluid retention. Both of my girls have had tubes (and so have I). My older daughter has actually had tubes twice (and tonsils removed twice because they grew back). My younger daughter's ENT is wanting her to have tubes a second time, but we are actually going to try the chiropractic route.

I would suggest, to avoid having to put her under more than once, bringing up with the doctor whether your daughter might need her tonsils out as well.

I would also suggest, to avoid surgery altogether, trying the chiropractic approach. I've heard lots of people have had success with it. We're getting our five-year-old started on that route today.

its probably her tonsils and adenoids. it should help a little with speech as she will be able to correctly hear you and herself better. i would have her xrayed for inlarged adenoids and have her tonsils checked.
my daughter has tubes put in and her adenoids taken out in june (shes 5) you would have never known she had surgery after the annestiesia wore off. its the tonsils that make it harder on them.
when my daughter had her tubes and adenectomy done they put the iv in and all that after they took her back so i wasnt there and its easier for them to listen to what needs to be done. the only issue we had was that i was not right there when they brought her out. she forgot that i was in the waiting room and it scared her. i just reassured her that she was ok and that i was here now.
now a big FYI get good ear plugs for the first few weeks. my favorites i got at walmart. they are like silly puddy consistancy and you just form it the the ear to cover the ear canal (it doesnt go in the ear) also get the second fill of ear drops if they offer it to you. they are a miracal med!!! my daughter dr basically was like if her ear hurts use the drops, water gets in use the drops, she looks funny use the drops... lol they help soo much!
good luck to your sweet baby. also talk about what they will do. my daughter and i watched videos about what her surgery will be like.

I would have tried chiropractic first but it won't hurt to still do it after, or postpone it for a month to see if surgery is truly necessary!
