I've lost my period a couple of times:
- When I wasn't eating properly (aka too much diet+exercise)
- When I was underweight
- When I was under a lot of stress
My aunt flo has never gone 3 months before (well of course when I got pregnant) but I've taken tests and they all have come up negative. My question is if any of you ladies have experienced this and what were your results? I don't want to freak myself out and start thinking the worst or anything. But since my tests have all come out negative its hard not to freak out. Any experience or advice would be very helpful. Thank you.
I am sorry I didn't put my age but I am 36. I did have a Dr. appt. for 4/02/10 but they called and canceled it. I am now scheduled to go in on 4/13/10. So I had to wait another week to see whats going on. Also my dauther is 4yrs old. Thank you so much for all your advice and experience. I will see what the Dr. says and I will go from there. Thank you so much. Like always all the ladies here have great advice.

Go have a pregnancy blood test done at the Doctor's office. I had a similar problems and it turned out to be nerves. As soon as the doctor's office told me that I WAS NOT pregnant, my cycle started the next day. Good luck!
Have you been to your doctor? It could just be as simple as pre menopause or something else. When in doubt go to the doctor and they can double check everything. I have heard of people that even when they knew they were pregnant the just still came up negative. But relax and go see your doctor.
Hey A.,
Are you exclusively breast feeding your little one? If so, and you are not going longer than four hours for feedings, you may not get your period until you wean him or her. This is quite normal. Unfortunately, I did get mine only 9 weeks after we had our son as he started sleeping through the night by that time. Sigh....
maybe you are not ovulating? How old are you....maybe it is perimenopause or have you lost weight recently....that can delay it also. I would call the nurse and speak with her and see what she thinks. It can also be caused by a lot of stress.
Pls check your Thyroid levels. Its called a TSH complete panel. Also ask your doc if your hormone levels can be checked to rule out PCOD which is Polycystic ovarian Disease. I had the same problem and my TSH level turned out 9 when acceptable levels are no more than 5. Now that TSH is under 2, my periods are coming more regularly. Hope this helps. Also, even though docs say that the "normal " level of TSH is upto 5, you can be very symptomatic if over 2. So see how you feel with different doses of Synthroid if you are indeed hypothyroid. PCOD is a whole different story. You will need a ob Gyn's opinion for that.
Hi A.,
it sounds like you have plenty of reassurance from the others, but FYI, I once went an entire summer without having my period. I went to my OB, who chalked it up to stress; and she gave me a small dose of a hormone or something-or-other that got it going. Perfectly natural and normal, it happens a lot.
Best wishes - D
I've put on weight cuz of my pregnancies.. and usually afterwards i wont have a period for 7 mnths.. just b/c.. not from stress not from breastfeeding.. just b/c of my weight gain.. i freaked out too.. but i just thought i was lucky enough to not experience it every month..lol so i embraced it.. i talked to my doctor & she wasn't too concerned w/ it b/c we knew what it was from.. good luck :)
You don't say how old you are. I'm 47 and I've been having the same problem but apparently it is due to pre-menopause. I was checked out just in case but that's all it is. It could just be your body changing but have a check up just in case to rule out any real problems.
Good luck!
I am not sure of your age. I did not have my period for 1 year when I was 28 as I was very muscular (dancer) and there was not enough fat to activate a period. Later, my periods became irregular in my 40's as I was going through perimenopause. My best advice would be to schedule a visit with your ob. Best of luck to you!
