My daughter is 3 and a half months old. I knew on Easter she was starting to teeth because we could see white spots in the middle bottom of her mouth. Just yesterday I noticed her front botttom tooth is starting to come through her gum, and today I noticed her other bottom tooth is comming in also! I have to give her motrin or else she is in horrible pain. Tylenol doesn't seam to do much! She always has been a pretty random girl, not taking many naps, and not really sleeping through the night that often. Just wakes up once though. even though she is a big girl, and drinks 6 ozs every 3-4 hrs. She is gradually getting better and will nap in the morning pretty good for 2-3 hrs. She made it for 4 days with going to bed at 8:00 p.m. and sleeping until 4:00 a.m But this weekend she has went to bed earlier which a lot of people have suggested to me, so I put her down at 6:30-7:00 because she is always fussy anyhow and pretty much over-tired from not sleeping in the afternoon. I'm wondering if it's her teeth that are waking her up at 1:00 p.m??? By then her medicine had wore off and she is managing to get her hands out of her swadler blanket and has her hands in her mouth. She always just eats and goes rite back to bed, and I will give her Motrin and she will wake up around 6:30-7:00 a.m. I'm pretty much exhausted, and am hoping this will pass and one day she will start sleeping through the nite. I find myself not able to wind down at night by the time I am able to fall asleep, I have to wake back up to feed her. I'm also wondering if drinking her bottle is hurting her? Lately she has been eating very funny, acting as though she is in pain. Mostly in the afternoons? She will suck, then pull away, and cry, and even cry when I burp her sometimes. When she was a lil younger we swithched her to soy and the dr thought she had silent reflux and put her on prevacid. She didn't seam any better on it, and I thought if that was the problem, the meds weren't helping. She also never has a prob sleeping flat on her back or anything. She's always had bad gas, and I'm not sure how I feel about soy, I would love to switch to dairy at 6 months, but I'm not sure if she's lactose intolerent or not. We never sawl a specialist or anything, but she seamned always in pain, and had bad exzema on her face. It seamned to help at the time with soy, and her face cleared up. So, lots of questions, if anyone has any advice that would be great!!!!

I am a SAHM to 2 beautiful boys, an 8yr old and a 3 month old. I also operate a daycare out of my home and I'm currently watching a 5 month old who is going through teething. She also wakes up crying and Motrin is the only thing that helps her. When she eats she acts as though the bottle hurts her bottom gums where her teeth are trying to come in and her mother and I have tried baby oragel before feeding her and it seems to help. As far as waking in the night, that's normal for a 3 month old, mine does the same thing. Some days he will go 5hrs and some days 8hrs but he usually will get up at least once in the night to feed. I know that it can be exhausting, but it will get better as your little girl gets older. In regards to trying Dairy for your baby when she turns 6 months, I would very much recommend asking the doctor if that's okay. I also watch a 9 month old and her mother took her off formula and put her on whole milk with out asking the doctor. The next time she went to the doctor for a check up the doctor urged her to get the little girl back on formula and said that milk does not have all the vitamins that a baby under the age of one needs. Hope this helped a little, Good Luck.

I would try orajel that topical numbing agent for her gums. Especially if you think the bottle is hurting her, put it on a few minutes before you feed. Unfortunately this is just a part of babyhood, but just try to make her as comfortable as you can, she may have a low pain tolerance.

As for Soy, my daughter couldnt drink regular, so she was on soy after two months. She had terrible colic, with gas and everything, and would only eat about an ounce at a time. Soy is just as healthy if not healthier so I wouldnt be in a hurry to switch her to dairy. We used WalMarts brand. Our pediatrician said all formulas have to pass FDA regulations, and the WalMart brand was fine. She did really well on her soy. When she reached about 1 she would drink regular milk and was fine. If she continues to hav an allergy to dairy, there are so many wonderful foods out there made with soy, and without dairy to choose from, it really isnt a big deal anymore. I bet though that if she has dairy when she is older in smaller doses like a piece of cheese or whatever she will be fine, milk is just unsettling to many people's tummys.

Sorry for the long and disjointed response, Good Luck!!!

my son was born w/ a tooth and then got his 2nd at 2 months old. by 6 months he had 7 teeth. poor guy was a hard teether. putting the teething toys in the fridge helped, motrin helped more for him too. make sure you get the teeth cleaners or wipe her gums w/ a cloth even after you feed her at nite. my son got soft teeth cuz of nursing all nite long. you might want to consider organic milk/formula. my son couldn't handle "regular milk" cuz of all the antibiotic and hormones. i thought he was allergic as well, but accidently tried organic and he didn't have any trouble. hope that helps
