It's about 4 hours but I have a website about the Lake Ouachita area of Arkansas. Maybe it will give you some ideas!

Hey guys, I'm looking for a good spot to go camping with kids. Both are girls ages 9. I'm willing to drive about 3 hours or so. I've been to Austin and Oklahoma a few times but I want something different. I was thinking Arkansas because we've never been there. I want to go somewhere that the girls can enjoy as well. Swimming, canoeing, hiking... I heard that Arkansas has some nice waterfalls and caves to explore. I would like suggestions on where to set up camp. I'd like to keep it within about a 3 hour or so drive from Dallas. Does anyone know if there is any places close to Texarkana?

We went Daisy State Park over Spring Break. There a some small towwns close by and lot's to do there!
I don't like Turner Falls myself, its a tiny waterfall, not worth dealing with the crowds that are there for daily picnics. It gets as crowded as an amusement park and you might prefer a more secluded area for camping.
(But stop by and see it for yourself since you'll probably drive out of Texas that way.)
Close by, is Lake Murray in Oklahoma. They have a website that you can look over. It has a very good photo gallery and a picture is worth a thousand words: http://www.touroklahoma.com/detail.asp?id=1%205U%206446

De Gray State Park in Arkansas is nice. Has tent camping and cabins. Hiking trails, a lake (and boating, I think), horseback riding, and golf.
Turner falls in OK is awesome. Lake murray is not to far for turnerfalls.
Hot springs is nice and a lot of fun. Its a little more than 3 hours, but you could break up the drive if it got to be too much. My husband and I passed through there last weekend on our way to visit his dad, and we had a great time. Our little one is too young to really enjoy it, but we still had a blast.
