My mom's three day old baby has not peed yet. An ultrasound shows a full bladder. Any comments?

What can I do next?

She absolutely has to be under the care of a medical professional if this is truly the case!
Sometimes though, diapers can be SO absorbant that it is hard to tell if a newborn is actually peeing or not. When my daughter was a newborn, I had a hard time telling if she had gone, so they told me to put a small piece of folded tissue (unscented, white) in the diaper, and then it's easier to tell...and yep...she was afterall!
Hope the baby is doing better!

WHAT? Has your mother called her peditrican yet? Alos I can't beleive the hospital released the baby without any voids or did your mother have the baby at home, is it eating right if the baby has a full bladder it should be having at least 8 wet diapers aday. Is your mother breastfeeding and maybe not only with the poopy diapers there is also some urine. IF the baby isn't pooping either then it needs to be seen ASAP. The poor thing may have some sort of blockage. If you don't have a regular peditricin you can call your local children hospital they should have an ask a nurse.
GOOD luck and congrads on the new baby.

Go to the doctor!! They found a full bladder but did nothing about it? They could cathertize and drain the bladder.

How did you get an ultrasound? Did you pediatrician perform this? If so, and I hope so, follow their guidance. They deal with these situations on a regular basis and will advise you the best way to treat your child. While it can be very scary, I have seen this before, and with treatment by a doctor it resolved and all is well now.

If the baby has not peed yet its time to go back to the hospital. Theyshould be able to do something. That can't be healthy.... I hope everything is ok but I would go back to the hospital to get the baby checked.

What this isn't right. Was the baby born prematurely was she in the hospital? The baby must of had some void after delivery even some meconium (black tarry poop)sevreal hours after delivery. Is the baby in the hospital now?If the ultrasound showed full bladdrer what is being done about it?Baby should of gone through at least a package of diapers by now.Your mom need's to contact the breastfeeding clinic if she is breastfeeding or call the dr. she can get Jaundice and it may effect her.Has she pooped at all or none of poop/pee?I wouldn't wait any longer take her to the Emergency room. Please let me know what is going on and answer my questions.

S., have mom get your little brother or sister to the ER or Dr ASAP. This isn't good at all.

newborns wet at least every hour, 8 to 10 diapers a day.
This could be very serious matter, please have the baby looked at immediately

God Bless and Hope everything goes well
