Does anyone remember being about 10X more tired with the second baby? With my first, I felt really good up until about 2 weeks before my baby was due. Right now, I'm so tired all the time. I can't wait for this one to be born and I have 15 weeks to go!! I don't think I'm going to make it. Is this normal with the 2nd one or is something wrong??

I don't know if this is true for everyone - but Omigosh, I was Soooo tired! Although I think feelings of total exhaution was with my 3rd. I literally would put on a movie for the other 2 just so I could lay down on the couch. I do remember be so tired I could hardly move at times and I had normal pregnancies. If you are concerned, ask your Doc. maybe there is something you can change with your diet to get more energy.
otherwise, hang in there... just all part of being a mommy.

I was more tired the second time around because I had to chase my first one around all day. The first time I could just sit on my butt or nap all day :o)

I am 12 weeks pregnant with my 2nd one as well and feel exactly the same way! I was actually a little relieved when I read your post! I think the biggest thing is keeping up with your first at this fun and crazy almost 2 stage...we didn't have that the first time! Good luck!
My goals this week are to stay really active and busy, get my mind busy with other things then just being pregnant and not feeling well(laying around a lot actually makes me feel worse), eat healthy (less sugar, less processed food), take a short nap here and there, and go to bed early. Good luck! I also have been beyond crabby and irritable...maybe the good news is you don't have that?
Good luck and remember one day at a time-
K.

I experienced the same thing with #2, and I think it's because you're already "on" as a mom. You know, sleeping with one "ear open," tending to a small child, etc. You just use up for much more energy, both physical and emotional. What helped me was going for walks (to boost those endorphines), eating good food (to avoid feeling sluggish), and ONE piece of chocolate a day...JUST one (like, a small truffle or something, not whole bar or anything), so I didn't feel guilty, but it did WONDERS for my indulgence factor/mood. :)

Good luck--you're almost there. Congrats!

Every pregnancy is different, and being tired comes with it or course, but I'd tell your Doctor how tired you are. I did, and when they checked my blood levels, it turned out I was really low on iron. They perscribed me an iron suppliment and I could tell a difference right away after taking it. I'm not saying you are short on iron, but sometimes, there are other medical reason's for your symptoms...not always having to be related to the pregnancy. It's worth a call because you still have along wait until birth.

Well, every pregnancy is different, but you might want to mention how tired you are to your doctor. Maybe your iron levels are low? I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my second and I have a 25 month old toddler. I was tired in the first trimester, but I feel pretty normal now. I don't think that a second pregnancy is necessarily more tiring than the first, but of course you do have a lot more to keep up with now than you did when you were pregnant with your first.

Good luck!

Well, I don't think it's necessarily the second baby that does it. Each baby is it's own experience, as I hear from my friends as well. I am pregnant right now with my 3rd girl, and each time I've had really easy pregnancies with no difficulties. I think I notice more this time when I'm tired, as I'm not always able to relax and instead have to chase my 2 yr old! With the first baby, I could just put up my feet and put off cleaning, social responsiblities, etc, if I was too tired.

I'm assuming your doctor has checked your hemoglobin, which could be causing you to be tired? And you are eating enough protein and drinking enough water? Have you considered cutting down your hours at work, or having someone else take over some of your responsibilities at home so you can take more time to rest?

Good luck,
T.
