If he's into music -get him an iTunes gift card and a nice Birthday card to put it in. I think anyone would like that, and no matter where he is -he can enjoy music! There have been low times in my life where music really made a huge difference.

I second the iTunes gift card (if he has a device). If not, I would do a gift card to Target along with a warm, but lightweight sweater. Rehab setting s(along with withdrawls) tend to be very chilly and depersonalizing. A spring weight sweater along with a gift card to go shopping when comes home would be nice.

I don't think I would buy gift cards. They can be sold for money. I would buy the article of clothing or CD that he likes. If the facility has an "account" for them, you put in a couple of bucks for phone calls and such but I think I would stay away from gift cards. When my nephew was in a facility they told us to not give gift cards. I hope he is taking this opportunity seriously. Good luck!

I agree with a gift card. You might find out if he likes Starbucks or some other type of restaurant. You could always get a Target gift card too....anyone could use that.

Stay away from giving him money...you know what that would be spent on....

I am assuming this is in-house....so if you buy a gift card, please make sure it can used online.
