2 Yr Old with Hemmroids

My little man just turned two and he's started having problems with hemmroids, he will be fine for a while but then has harder bowel movements and then regular. Sometimes even the regular bowel movements cause him pain. There are visibly two hemmroids that are small but causing much discomfort to him. He cries when I have to change his diaper and afterwards for a long time. I've put Preparation H on them but wasn't sure if someone out there had a similar experience and some advice or tips on what else I can do. I am going to have to watch his diet and keep him fibered up. Help moms!

What can I do next?

My son had the same problem. I changed his eating habit and it helped. Fiber will be good for him. Make sure he is going to the bathroom every couple days if not you may want to give him an enema. I shop at an organic and all natural store now and that helps a whole lot too. If you are interested in learning more about it let me know. I hope things get better for the little one. See a gastrologist if it gets bad he may not be processing food though digestive well.
About me; work at home mom of three kids.

Great about keeping an eye on his diet. Also, you probably need to increase his water intake. Most of us are chronically dehydrated. So, our children end up chronically dehydrated, too, because we pass on our habits to them.

Make sure you're drinking a bare minimum of 8-oz glasses of water each day (a few more if you're in the hot sun or more active). Sodas and juices don't count; neither do caffeinated teas and coffees. We're talking herbal teas or diluted juices or water. Make sure your son is getting the 2-year old equivalent. Ask his doctor how much he should be taking in every day. I'm thinking a couple of sippy cups' worth.

Otherwise, if he doesn't have enough water to grease the wheels, all that fiber is just going to give him a belly ache.

Go get that boy some water! :)

My two year old son has problems with constipation due to a birth defect. He takes Miralax every day. I give him about a tablespoon in his drink every morning, and it works great. The doctor said it's been used for a long time with no problems or side effects due to it's use. I still have to make sure he doesn't have too much cheese or bananas, but he can have them about once a day with no problems.

Hi E.,
My 5 year old daughter has had the same problem in the past. She hated prune juice and wouldn't drink it, but we discovered that plum juice worked wonders and she absolutely loved it. Good luck.

1. Increase fiber contant in the diet (figs, bran cereal, broccoli, spinach, peas, leafy veggies, apricots, apples, etc)

2. Also give him over-the-counter supplemental fiber from the pharmacy which has methylcellulose in it.

3. Also give him "Sitz bath" ... quoting the internet: (a bath where you sit in warm water that covers the buttocks and hips. Sitting in warm water allows more blood to reach the impacted area, promoting healing and helping with any discomfort. A sitz bath uses the theory of hydrotherapy or water therapy.)

go to walmart and get some miralax its a powder and you can mix it with any liquid and it doesnt taste i mix it with my daugters juice and she never knows it. i started with a 4th cap full and added a little more until it started working well i never go over a half cap. it works and alot of children are taking it and there's no time frame to taking it i even take it sometimes! my daughter had lose bm's and we were eating yogart and stuff to take care of loose then when she got all her teeth in they changed and she got constipated so my ped told us to us mirlax and it works great so she'll be on that until her system gets straight! good luck i feel so sorry for your little man!
