Help. My 2 year old has recently begun hating her bath time. She screams and cries prior to getting in and then cries he entire time she is in especially when I am washing her hair. She complains that it hurts her hair and ears. She complains that her ears hurt when I am getting her dressed also. I have toys in the tub but that does not help. She was just at the Dr. 4 days ago. He said that her ears look fine. Prior to this she loved it and would play until I forced her to get out. Should I make another appointment with the Doctor or is this just a phase? I am not sure what I should do?

Is there a chance that part of the problem could be water getting into her ears? This is what made my daughter start hating bath time. I found a great product at One Step Ahead (www.onestepahead.com). It's a foam visor that allows you to wash your child's hair while keeping water and shampoo out of your child's face and ears. They sell for about $8 for a set of two. Bath time is much happier for my daughter since I started using these.

My daughter did that to me too when she was about that age. I obviously bathed her and washed her hair despite the battles, but when she was 3 I signed her up for swimming lessons 1 day a week. She swam back and forth with 4 or 5 other kids, screaming, not crying for a few weeks. It was difficult to watch, but not long after that, she started loving the water and even taking showers. I think she realized by watching the other kids that it really wasn't bad. She's 5 now and loves her swimming lessons. She's still in the same preschool class she was a year or so ago, but has a whole different outlook. Obviously, stay in touch with your Dr. just incase it turns out to be something physical. Good luck with it. It was one of our tougher times.

My 2 yr old loves the bath, but also screams and cries and tells me it hurts when I wash her hair. So, I started putting soap in her hair just to put it on real quick and then having her lather it up and scrub it in herself. She loves to do it and is much happier about washing her hair.

I would maybe try getting in with her if you already haven't. Other than that I am not sure why it would change for her only that something bad happened are you the only one that gives her baths? Good Luck.

Maybe try taking a bath with her or have your other daughters take one with her. It may just be a phase. My niece always hates to get her hair washed, but is less fussy when my daughter is in the tub with her.
