Our oldest was out of diapers shortly after her 2nd birthday - She did wonderful for 6 months....now she seems to have trouble staying dry! She doesn't wet her pants, but when she has to go, her panties are always damp - sometimes her pants are also damp.
She doesn't complain of pain, doesn't use the bathroom frequently, doesn't drink large quanities of any liquid, and does tell us when she needs to go.

I'm at my witts end, and trying not to get upset with her...its just really frustrating!

What can I do next?

Hi J.,
Most people don't realize that bed wetting and incontinence can be nutrition related. I know of someone who wet the bed until she was 21 and when she took the correct supplements, it stopped almost immediately and has not been a problem again.

She could have an urinary tract infection. I had one recently and had no pain at all. It could also be a bladder issue.
I would bring it up at her next check up.
Good luck.

She may just be waiting too long because she's busy playing or just doesn't want to go until she's started. If she has no frequency, temperature elevation, signs of yeast infection (been on antibiotics or anything)I'd venture a guess that the "newness and Big girl" effect have worn somewhat and she'd rather not be bothered. Be patient, don't scold, just remind her how nice it is to have dry panties so she doesn't get sore or dirty the furniture. She just needs to be reminded that girls outgrow diapers. Then they smell better, feel better, and it really doesn't take that long to "Potty".

I know it can be frustrating but like the other moms have said, try not to scold her. Also keep in mind that just because she was trained at 2 years, that's still a little on the early side. Most kids have tiny accidents like that for a long while after being potty trained because in all honesty their bodies are still too small to have full control over something that major. She'll get better over time, however, if she seems to get worse or begins to complain of pain obviously you'll want to call her pediatrician.

Good luck!

She may not be emptying her bladder completely when she goes potty. so when she stands up, she dribbles. when she does go, and says she's done, ask her to sit and try one more time. more than likesly she'll be able to a pee alittle more and finishing emptying her bladder. hopefully this will help with the dampness. also make sure to teach her to wipe good from front to back so she doesn't get a UTI or yeast infection(from the dampness).
