We have twin nieces who will be turnign 2 next month! So far, we have gotten pjs and a dress for each of them, but my husband wants to get them some kind of toy. What are the best gifts for 2 year old girls that can also be easily shipped across the country. We would like something that is not too expensive, either one bigger gift to share, or 2 of the same but a little smaller. Thanks for the ideas!
I have a 2 year old daughter. My suggestions are 2 little baby dolls, or something they can pretend with. My daughter loves pretend food, pretend kitchen things, tiny teapots, pots and pans, etc. 2 little purses with something to go inside. I'd just go to some store like a Target and see what they have.
Depending of how "girly" they are my 2 year old is obsessed with anything having to do with tutu's, purses, nail polish, etc. She also loves stamps (could be a joint gift) and her baby pillow pets (hippo and bumble bee.)
As the mom of a 2 year old we have so many coloring books and crayons already - get them something FUN that they'll be excited to open!!

With twins I say go for two smaller presents...no fighting that way. Coloring books and crayons are always a hit here. You could also do baby dolls and baby doll accessories.
Well, I have a little boy, but aside from his trucks and trains, most of what he plays with would work for girls too. We LOVE books and he can never have enough of them. For his second birthday some of his favorite gifts were puzzles (that's about the time we moved to the 9-16 piece ones), play food/pots/pans/etc (we're big fans of the wooden varieties), and play doh.
When there are siblings, twins or not.... never, get "one" gift that can be shared. Each child should get their own gift, even if it is the same gift but different colors. 2 year olds, also, developmentally, are not "experts" at sharing.
Just think, would you yourself want a gift, that you had to share... with someone else? Kids are kids. Get them each a gift.
At that age, kids like to play with anything...but their fine-motor and gross motor skills are still developing.
And they like to pretend play.
"Fisher Price Little People" sets are cute and fun and for this age.
If you go to Amazon, you can search for it and see the MANY sets they have. Toddlers like these. My kids did. That is what I recommend.
Big Legos! All kids love Legos! And surprisingly the big ones held up through both of my boys. Just donated them to a domestic shelter near me after being played with for 5 years. Good luck!
Also, it's so much cheaper and less hassle to order from the store and have them ship it.
Books and puzzles are always good. Fisher Price, V-Tech and Leap Frog all have great age appropriate toys in a variety of price ranges. That was kind of my "go to" aisle for a couple of years at Christmas.
