Teething tablets worked with my two boys, but it doesn't help my 6 month old baby girl. I like teething tablets and they aren't that expensive.
My normally sweet, well-behaved (well, most of the time) son has turned into a cranky, crying, moody mess! He apparently is getting his molars in (it just breaks my heart when he holds him mouth and say's, "mommy, teeth, please"), and it is a nightmare. 1st-How long is this going to last? 2nd-Any ideas (besides Motrin, Orajel, ice chips, popsicles....)

I've been through this 3 times. We kept them medicated with Tylenol or Motrin for the duration. We fed them ice chips all day long, gave them cold drinks and hard candies too.
My youngest is 3 and we also gave him icepacks to place on the outside of his jaw. He liked being able to do something and the icepacks weren't just ice in a baggie. They were the ones you put in your bottle bag when you go out and I sewed up wash clothes to go around them and secured the top with buttons or snaps.
I suggest trying Hylands teething tablets and lots of TLC. I haven't gone through 2nd molars yet we'll be there soon enough.
Hi A.,
Heres a couple of ideas....
*I second the Hylands teething tablets I give my daughter 3 she is 7 months the little girl I watch her mother has me give her 5 and she is the same age as your son.
*You can also put the motrin directly one his gums where the teeth are coming in at.
*I would give him tylenol and motrin and alternate them for the next couple of days
*Also let him sleep when he wants to during the day even besides his normal nap.
The little girl I watch she just turned 2 last weekend and she has finally cut hers it lasted about a month or so.
We are going through the same thing with our 2 year old little boy! I agree that it's a NIGHTMARE!!! It will be over soon, no telling when, every child is different in how long it takes for the teeth to erupt. I often tell patients (I'm a dental hygienist) to wet the corner of a washcloth and freeze for about 20 minutes. It gets just cold enough that the toddler likes to bite it with the gums that are sore and get some relief. Motrin or Tylenol are also wonderful, although don't put Motrin directly on the gums as previously recommended - that is an old wives tale and you could end up giving him a chemical burn! Oragel works minimally but may be worth a try. I'm going to try the teething tablets everyone is talking about. Hope this helps!

They have some homeopathic teething tablets you can get at walmart next to all the vitamins. They work great, I'm going thru the two yr molars also.
