2 Periods in 3 Weeks

I finally started having my period again - I had my daughter in June of 2006, nursed for a year (I stopped last June), and didn't start my period until November 19. I'm on the progesterone only birth control pill, and when I talked to my OB about not having my periods, he said that the type of pill I'm on could be the reason (He did a pregnancy test, too. Of course, a week after I had my appointment I started). I like the progesterone only pill that I'm on right now. I don't have any side effects like with the progesterone/estrogen combo. It made me mentally c r a z y.

I had a my period for a week - cramping, bloated, realized how much I did not miss having it. This week I started my period AGAIN. Ugh. Has anyone had experience with frequent periods after having a baby? Is my body just getting back in sync? I had this problem when I first started my period when I was 12, so maybe this is just how my body reacts at first. Any comments would be appreciated. Not looking forward to having this happen every 2 weeks!

What can I do next?

Ugh- yes, it sounds like your body is trying to get back into sync! My son was born in September 2005 and I breastfed for a year, as well. I got my first post-partum period in July 2006 and bled for 3 months straight! It took some mega-doses of birth control to stop the bleeding and get me back to normal. I had a normal period for 5 months, then we got pregnant in April of this year. I, unfortunately, miscarried at 6 weeks and my period was thrown off again. It's just your hormones trying to balance themsleves out- I'm sorry you're having to go through this! I hope that helps...

If you are not still breastfeeding, you should try a different pill. I had to try a few different ones before I found one that worked for my body. And, if I miss it by just a couple of hours, I can count on a mid-month, albeit very light, period. Your body is probably just trying to get back in sync, but ask your Dr. to try another b/c pill if you are not still breastfeeding. Your periods will be much better!

Good luck!

This was exactly my experience as well. I got my period back a year after I had my daughter, and had 4 periods in as many weeks. I was on Micronor. It was highly frustrating, to say the least. I had to get back on the pill for my body to regulate itself. Apparently, spotting like that is pretty normal on Micronor - it's really best-used for nursing only, but you want to switch to a regular pill when you're done nursing.

It does sound like your body is, like you said, just getting back in sync. Your schedule is close to mine. Child born July 06. I started the last week of August, had another period 2 weeks after. Then again 2 more times (each 2 weeks apart. After the late October one I finally got a month break, having a period last week. I think I'm finally on the right track. So hopefully you will be soon as well. As always though, if you feel like things aren't right call your Dr.
