M..
Shes ok, her little neck just got tired. I would recommend doing it somewhere softer next time. :)
She is 2 months old and we have been doing tummy time more frequently because she doesnt lift her head very well. Today we were doing tummy time on the hardwood but where the Rug is over the hardwood and then i laid down a blanket on top of the rug as well. she was doing good and then had it lifted and just let it fall, i wasnt expecting that. she didnt cry or anything, just freaked me out ;/
i have read they need to do it on harder surfaces? all i have is hardwood. and like i said we were on the rug but the rug has hardwood underneath it.

Yes, that happens, she probably just got all tired out. Bed & couches are not great for tummy time because they do need a harder surface that provides resistance for them to push against. Maybe you could try something like a yoga mat to put under her and then blanket on top of that? It would provide some cushioning but still give the resistance...
It happens. If she didn't cry, she's not hurt.
We also have hardwoods with area rugs. When we do tummy time, I "double over" a blanket and put her on the blanket to add more "cushion"!
Yep, they'll do that! Poor you. Two of my kids despised tummy time. It was torture.
It's why they're made of rubber .... ;+}
My boys did tummy time on a blanket, on the area rug on the hardwood floor. A rug over hardwood is just fine, as you found out today when she dropped her head and wasn't hurt. The floor is the best place to do it, that way you can carry on with your day. If you put her on a bed and walk away chances are pretty good that she will roll off, because she will be able to roll soon. As someone mentioned, a yoga mat would be good too.
I almost always did tummy time on our bed, because I was recovering from a c-section and didn't like crawling on the floor. All of my kids have met all of their motor skill benchmarks, even though I did TT on the bed. All were walking by 12 mos or earlier.
I'd stick to the bed for a few weeks until her neck muscles are a bit stronger, and then move it back to the floor.
