1St Time Away from My Boys

Any advice for leaving my husband and three year old for a week due to a business trip? It's the first time I will ever be away from them and I'm starting to get nervous. I will be all the way on the West Coast and I know they will be fine. I leave tomorrow and I'm trying not to think about it so much. Sigh...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I survived! I came home to a decent house and a clean kid (ears were a little dirty, lol). We didn't FaceTime or Skype since I was really busy in workshops and lectures and didn't have much time to talk during the day. The time difference really didn't help. I did get to relax on my last two days and do a little sightseeing. I did notice they started calling me more than they called me towards the end of the week :)

Facetime or skype! When my hubby travels I send him pics all day through texts to let him know we are ok and are thinking of him, I'm sure I would greatly appreciate the updates if the roles were switched. Good luck, Mama! I'm sure this will be harder on you then your boys.

Its going to be just fine. Even though it's a business trip, enjoy your "me" time. I wish I were going on a business trip :) Us moms we always feel guilty, it's our nature.

Try to schedule skype of phone calls. If you cannot schedule out an absolute time for the week. Just plan day by day.. I will call you at 6:00 pm on Monday to speak with the boys.

I will call you (husband) at 6:00am.. or whatever time he will be getting up..

They will do great.. Wait till you hear the stories about all of the shenanigans that took place!!!

What a great chance for your kids to really spend time with dad and for dad to really get to know all about the boys!

They will figure things out.

This is funny you posted this. This is the first time my son is on vacation without me and my husband this weekend. If you read my other post, I rarely get babysitters so when someone asked to take my child on their vacation, I was happy. At first when he left I was a little nervous, but now I'm happy I had this time to myself and then yesterday my husband and I went out to a nice adult restaurant/movie. When I was walking in the mall, I kept feeling like I was leaving something behind. (lol) Today I'm ok and he will be back. You will be fine and will gain a little bit of your independence back. It's just a little bit of separation anxiety. My child is with me everyday and he will be 6 years old next month. I think overall it's a good experience and will show you that you aren't the only one that can take care of your children. They will be fine and just enjoy yourself. I did this weekend.... :)
