Hi. I just got my period back on my son's first birthday and I was wondering if anyone else experienced a super light period. It was seriously barely there! It only lasted for a day and a half too! Before I got pregnant, I had normal flow periods that lasted 5 days. I just want to make sure that a barely there first period after baby is normal. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi L.! TOTALLY NORMAL! I had the same thing happen. It usually takes the body a couple cycles to get back into the groove of things. Along the same vein, some women get it back full force and with a vengeance, so it's really a very individual thing. Don't forget, though, that you're most probably ovulating, so unless you're ready for the next baby, use contraception.

are you still breastfeeding? it seemed to take several cycles before i had a period like pre-pregnancy. they just seemed to be irregular and yes, much lighter than usual. hope that helps. if you're still breastfeeding, chances are that even though you've gotten you're period back, it may be different than before you were pregnant or nursing.

Yes, having a light period is fine. It will eventually go back to your regular flow.

It'll change back. I am 46 and have a 3 yr old girl! Also a 16 yr old girl! Both times, I nursed, and my periods might be different stories because of that, after pregnancy. But I blead, dribbled, straight for like 6 weeks the second time, and then it went back to regular swing. I must be ageless because it's still normal! Anyway, my first, long ago, came back to normal within 3 months. It may take it's time. Your body doesnt fully recover from birth for like a yr and a half.

I just got mine back yesterday, it is awful! It's heavy and I have a ton of cramps- so I envy you. I still nurse my 1 year old twins. I was hoping that I would never get my period again oh well, it's back and now to see if it will be regular.

Sounds totally normal to me. That is how it works for me. Both times my first period was light, then didnt come for a few months, then seemed to be pretty regular after that. Im still bf, my baby is 14 mos., and I got my period for the first time when he was 6 mos. My sister didnt get her period until she totally stopped bfing (15 mos). Everyone is different.

While you breastfeed, you might get your period every three weeks, every six months, or not at all.Don't worry about having a regular period until after you stop breastfeeding.
The golden rule is that the first period you have after childbirth is always weird. The good news is they almost always get better from there.usally Painful and heavy menstrual flow are extremely common after giving birth, simply because your body isn't accustomed to ovulating and menstruating regularly, so your initial period may be tougher on your system.therefore you are lucky if your's is light and maybe because you are still breast feeding or stopped just recently. Also you might want to check for pregnancy if you are not using effective BCM and you keep having super light irreg periods. It is not a bad idea to see your provider for an evaluation if you haven't seen him since post delivery exam .good luck.

It's perfectly normal. This happened to me as well and has remained that way. Since I can't get out of it, I'm glad it is that way. Enjoy it, it could have been worse.
