If you want to do the photo album thing, right now www.mypublisher.com has a buy one, get one free offer for Father's Day. You may have to sign up for their e-mails or something, but there's a promotional code. I'm thinking one for Dad, and another for Grandpa. The mini-albums are around $15 (not including shipping), and they look really good.
Hi, My business creates wonderful lollipop bouquets for any occasion. we have an awesome #1 dad lollipop that is great. we can also add gifts to the bouquet if you like like a rolled t shirt and gift cars... check us out. we have gifts and favors for every occasion.
Nothing spectacular but here is what I did for my husbands first father's day.
I took one of the pictures we had of him & our son in the hospital & one of the pictures from a camping trip we took just a couple of weeks before father's day & put them on one page. I did a little design around it & on it it said: "The first year. Happy Father's Day 2006." I framed it & it still hangs on our wall. This worked really well for us since our son was born on June 27 & so he had grown a lot before the first father's day came about. We couldn't afford an expensive present but my husband swears this means a lot to him & we can do a new one for every year. This year the second picture will have our daughter in it also. Hope you find something!
There have been LOTS of great ideas posted here on this topic over the last couple of weeks. You might go back and search the archives so that you don't miss anything cool!
Good Luck!
Hey M.,
For my husbands first Father's Day I bought a T-shirt that said Best Father Hands Down with a space for my daughter's hand prints and paint to do it. Then on the back of the shirt, I painted the bottom of feet and placed her foot prints (four prints total so it looks like she walked up the back of the shirt) up the back of the shirt! He loved it1 So we have made one every year (she is 6 1/2 now). He has saved every shirt and I date them in paint as well. Eventually I will have a quilt made of them for us to keep. It is so sweet and not an expensive gift, but filled with meaning! Good luck and congrats to you and your husband on your first Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Hi M., I think your husband is lucky to have a thoughtful wife to do this for him.
Now , My first reaction ,when reading this was to get him a tee shirt , with a great picture of your son on it , and have the words say something to the effect of "My Dad" or the Best DAD a kid could have. Maybe even the picture of the two of them doing something together and haveing fun.I'm sure you get the idea. The Malls usually have tee shirt stores that can print what you like and even digital pictures now.
I am a NANA and I still treasure an old tee, that was given to me on a special day, with both my grandkids together on it and it says "We love you, Nana".They were about 8,and 3 at the time. Now one is engaged, the other married for 3 yrs, and has a baby of her own. I still have that special memory in my cedar chest, their sweet faces frozen in time, and I still love it.
just a suggestion,hope it helps.
M.,
For my husbands first fathers day I took our (at the time) 2 month old son to Walmart and had several pictures done. As part of the package I got a matte for 5 poses. I used 5 different poses of the pictures that we took and framed it for him. He loved it an we still have it hanging in our room.
Here is an idea...I was going to get this done for myself but it might be nice as a Fathers Day gift.
Hand me a Memory
Hand cast your child's hand.
His first father's day my DD was only a month old so i got a card "Daddy's First Father's Day" and took pink stamp ink and put her feet in it and pressed them on the card with Love "name". He really liked it and it is something to have as a keepsake.
Last year I had pictures taken of her in the Longhorn outfit (His fav. team) we bought for her and put on the picture collage "Dadd's lil' Cheerleader!"
Hope this helps.
Congratulations to your hubby and I think he'll love whatever you buy or make for him. There are some great ideas here and the link to the responses that Emily C received were also great, there are even a few ideas I might try for my husband. But the one idea I have is a coffe mug with a picture of your son and maybe daddy together. If you go to www.kodakgallery.com you can see the mugs with photos they have to offer or even other great Father's Day gift ideas. I have ordered many gifts from kodak gallery for my family and I or they were never disappointed. Good luck M.!!!
For my hubby's first father's day I made him a card with my kids' footprints on it. The next year I did a hand print, put them in a picture frame and wrote on the bottom of the paper with the print on it "Happy Father's Day" and the year.
Happy First Father's Day! I picked a nice key chain from Thing's Remembered and had my son's initial in the middle and mine and my husband's initials on either side. He still carries it and my son (whose 3 1/2) tells me all the time who each of the letters is for in our family. It's different than something with a picture..although that is always nice. And, it's something that you know they will use everyday! Good luck!
For a father's day gift I did a special photo shoot with my daughter (the only one at the time) and then wrapped them up and put some in a frame for his desk. He really enjoyed it. In fact now that I have three I need to update that. Maybe we will do a photo shoot for fathers day this year. Thank you for getting me thinking.
I made a cast/mold of my son's hand and foot to give as a first Father's Day. They sell the kits at craft stores. It's a wonderful, memorable gift. I also did a cast of the two of the holding hands. You can look back and remember just how tiny he was when you see his little fingers wrapped around Daddy's thumb.
I just went to a "plate party" where they painted my son's feet and put it on a plate and will decorate the plate any design that I wanted. Go to heavenlytoes.com for ideas. They paint, glaze and fire the plates. I did a Green Bay design for my husband to put in his office with my son's foot print as the football. I have never seen such things before and such a keepsake vs. the old prints in plaster things that only stay out for a few years and then go in a box. My husband will probably always be a green bay fan and he can keep this out forever.
I know a great consultant if you decide it is a good idea.
PS As I got one for my husband, I also got one for me. They painted my son's feet and put it on the plate and then sent me home with the plate and paint to do my dogs prints to make a vase full of "flowers". I can't even imagine how cute it will turn out.
If you husband wears ties or even if he doesn't, I have always loved the standard gift of a tie with a twist. Each Father's Day, my husband gets a tie from our two children. I bought an inexpensive tie that was very plan, not much design to the fabric. I got some temper paints that complemented the tie color. With the bottom of the childs foot painted with the paint, I made footprints from each foot like they were walking up the tie. With your child lying on his back or sitting in a high chair, it is much easier to get the imprint by attaching the tie to a firm piece of cardboard and bringing the tie to your childs foot. The next year we did handprints on a tie. Because of limited space, each child does their own tie. One year I took a picture of both children in bluebonnets and went out to www.snapfish.com and ordered a tie that had that picture all over a tie. As the children get older, I'm going to let them decorate their own tie in thier own way so it is be something specially made by them.
Good luck.
Hi M.,
I asked this very same question a few weeks ago and here is the link the great responses I got from moms!
CVS has this cool crystal block and they can etch any picture you want in it. Its like $40 and a good gift to put a picture of your son or your family in.
A mini scrapbook/photo album. Take all the pics(or just your faves)that you have taken of the two of them together and put them in a book for your husband and use phrases like "all things boy" or "no girls allowed".
You could even go as far as taking a pic of your son in dad's fave baseball hat or hanging onto the car steering wheel or outside by a tree with a fishing pole or next to dad's tool box...just think of all the things your husband enjoys and take a pic. That way he will have his very own set of photos to look at whenever he wants and as your son gets older the two of them will enjoy looking at it.
At my husbands old job he had to wear ties everyday, so I ordered him a tie with our daughters picture all over it. It was really cool. He loved it & so did his fellow co workers. This year I am thinking about getting him one of those frames that you put the digital photos on, it changes them like a slide show. My friend has one and she loves it. The one she has plays music as well. Also, one year I bought a plain t-shirt, iron on print paper ( for dark color shirts ) printed a pic of our daughter put it on the front of the shirt. Then on the back, I took fabric paint stamped her hands on top left n right side, did the same with her feet. In the middle with print iron paper printed Gwendolyn loves Daddy & put it in the middle of the hands & feet. Good luck!
