Okay my daughter was born on Christmas yep you read right Christmas so I'm planning her birthday/1st Christmas. Some think I shouldnt do it on actual Christmas day but I think she deserves to at least have her first birthday on her actual birthday! I may after this year or next have it in July so its not all crammed into one! So we are thinking of doing her birthday theme in Ladybugs b/c its still using red but also giving her bday its own theme. What is everyones thoughts on this??

What can I do next?

Wow!! What a great Christmas present for you.

My children celebrate their birthdays within weeks of each other (like two weeks apart Argh!!). Instead of having a birthday party every two weeks we have opted to have One BIG party to celebrate all of them with their friends then on their birthdays they have the choice of what they want to do to celebrate with the immediate family. This way they get their party and still get to celebrate their special day. You may want to consider this. Have your daughter's party the week before or after Christmas with family and firends, Then celebrate with her on her special day just you guys.

By the way, if you need any entertainment, my husband and I are professional Clowns/Elves living in Anna. We offer facepainting, balloon sculptures (Wowza makes the cutest Ladybug bracelets that a 1 year old can even wear), comedy magic shows, Glitter Art Tattoos (these are great because the last 5-7 days), friendship bracelets, along with fun interaction and games. We've entertained at birthday parties and large events like the Plano Balloon Festival.

Our prices are very reasonable (we have four great kids of our own so we know how expensive things can get)and we do our best to work within a person's budget.

Please feel free to take a look at our website at www.freewebs.com/bubblesandwowza for samples of our work along with video testimonials from satified customers regarding our performance.

Give us a call at ###-###-#### if you have any questions at all.

Hope you have a great party whatever you decide to do.

Hope to hear from you,

Hi there! I can totally understand your predicament! My dad's birthday is on Christmas day, my hubby's birthday is on 12/20, and my sons birthday is on 12/18... yes YIKES! Both my dad and my husband agree that they never wanted their birthday parties too close to Christmas and always had them early. Their theory is no matter if it is a planned birthday party or not, Christmas will still overshadow it... Also, I don't know too many people who have their birthday party on the actual day, rather the weekend before or after, unless it falls on a weekend I suppose. So, this is what we did for my son last year on his first birthday and will do again this year... it was and will be on the first Saturday of the month.

Also, we did a fun theme for him last year... as he was turning one and it was in December the theme was: Winter "ONE"derland and we did snowflakes and penguins it was a blast and everyone loved the theme! Let me know if you want any of our ideas from that! Though I do think a ladybug theme is cute too!!

For my youngest born on 12-27, we have his actual party in early December, then on his actual bday we go out to eat as a family the 4 of us. For your family dinner you could make Xmas breakfast about your child. Think a big waffle with a candle in it, then a small present for the birthday. Don't forget a cake of some sort, inthe case of breakfast could be a panic sweet rolls. They have frosting, right?

My personal opinion would be to not do it on Christmas day. My birthday falls on Thanksgiving sometimes and hate when I have to share my day =) I know that sounds selfish but I am big into birthday celebrations! No matter how special her first birthday is (and it is VERY special), you will loose a lot of the first birthday specialness if you do it on such a major holiday.

My recommendation would be to celebrate her birthday the weekend before Christmas, that way she can have her day all to herself. Then maybe make a special cake or something for her on the "real" big day!

The ladybug idea sounds really cute, I just actually finished doing some ladybug invitations for a first birthday this week for a client. If you need invitation I would be happy to help, I would be happy to show the ladybug invite I already created www.WorksofaWink.com

Good luck, and either way you go I am sure it will work out

My daughter (now 14) was born on 12/27. We have always celebrated on her day.

We've always had parties and never had any trouble with kids coming. I guess by the 27th, a lot of parents are ready to send the kiddos somewhere to burn energy, LOL

For the last 3 yrs we've had BIG parties with DJ and the works. I was skeptical at first planning such a big party on the 27th but we've had a full crowd at the parties and it has been great.

I like the ladybug idea. My daughter loved ladybugs and I have the most darling costume I bought from Lillian Vernon when she was about 2 for Halloween.

Enjoy her...time flies...!!

If it's just you and your husband celebrating with her, I see nothing wrong with having her party and celebrating on Christmas day. However, if you're wanting to invite family or friends, having the party on Christmas, I don't think, is a good idea. If you're wanting to celebrate with family, have it on the weekend before or after. I know my husband and I have ways we like to celebrate holidays with our kids, and my kids would be very upset to have to leave their new stuff to go to a birthday party. My sister-in-law has my nephew's birthday on Fourth of July (his birthday is July 6th, so I'm not sure why the party always has to be on the 4th) and that irks me too since it keeps us from getting to do the stuff we like to do on the holiday that we only can do once a year.

I have a son with a December birthday, so I understand having to cram it all into one month which can be tough. I always have my kids' parties on the weekend either before or after their birthday. Then, on the actual day, I make it extra special with their favorite dinner, an activity, something to make it stand out. That would be my suggestion to you. Have all the family over and celebrate on a different day, but you can make the actual day as special as you like.
