Something that can be eaten or used... otherwise you will be wasting money and time on it.
Many times, the favors or goody bags from Kids b-day parties, are just tossed in the trash, afterward. Even if it is cutesy.
Any ideas for family and kids of all ages receiving favors??

NONE works! It's cheap and easy.
Okay, not what you wanted to hear.
I do $5.00 McDonald's gift cards. EVERYBODY is happy even if they don't "like" McDonalds. Those yummy ice cream cones and dollar soda suck me back in like the freakin' MOB!
I did little handmade soaps in my son's theme. It was really cute, they were little giraffes and elephants.

Depending on the theme of the party, you can do anything. A cupcake, a little bag of popcorn or cotton candy, a box of crayons, little mini water color sets.... I pretty much prefer anything other than actual favor toys that you would buy at the store.
Check out Kelle Hampton's blog Enjoy the Small Things...her 2nd baby turned 1 and she did the cutest favors. Just search on the blog for that entry...everything was super cute.
it's nearing Summer.. for the smallest of kids. they have those plastic sand buckets with shovels in them. those are cute.. and at some stores, NOT very expensive. (of course, depending upon how many you need) additionally, for middle aged kids, I have done over-sized beach towels.. sounds crazy, but when you have 7 and 8 year olds who dont always want to take a bath.. sometimes, having their own towel makes more fun and too, if they swim, can use the towels elsewhere.. Also, for bigger family members.. we've done chocolate favors.. candybars with all the specific info printed on them.. sometimes you can find cheap deals on the net..
I think we used wrappedhersheys.com << and had a good experience with them.. we ordered communion favors..
best of luck
You should do pinwheels...my son got one of these at a birthday party when he was just turning one and he loved it! My niece (who is 6) also got the same favor and she loved it too! We have it outside now and he watches it spin in the wind. You can get them at Target or you can be a little more creative and buy them on Etsy.com or make them yourself. If you want to provide a little snack with it you can make a batch of rice krispie treats, cut them into squares and package them nicely.
$2 gift certificates to Baskin Robbins, great for all ages :)
We use them every year and they're a big hit. And none of that plastic crud goes home w/ anyone.
