My nephew just got one of those orange and yellow cars the he can sit in and push with his feet. It has a floor option too, so his feet are up and you can push him. He loves it - he turned one in Jan.
My twins' birthday is the 27th. We are looking for something that we can get them to play outside or even some type of climbing gym/toy for inside, but everything is made for year 2 and up. What did you get your babies for their first birthday?
Thanks for the great ideas. Unfortunately with two sets of grandparents living within 10 minutes of us, they got the double wagon, small rocking horses, and push toys for Christmas. :) They aren't spoiled at all!!!! :0 I'll let you know what we decide.

Happy birthday to your babies!
I say, don't worry too much about the age. Personally, I think it more depends on what you think your kids are ABLE to play with/on! Also, how your yard is set up--if you get something that they can fall off of, make sure it is on a soft surface (sand, wood chips, etc). For her 1st birthday, my girl got one of those tents with a tunnel (ages 3+) and she LOVES it! I just have to make sure it is leaning up against something so she doesn't push the whole thing over. The ages are the toy companies' legal obligation, but not all kids fit into "average." At our daycare, they have lots of outdoor toys and all the kids LOVE the kitchen and slide (toddler class: ages 1-2.5)! You could always just keep the smaller accessories boxed up until they are a bit older.
Even if you did get them something for 2 and up, they'll grow into it quickly and you'll already have it when they're ready. But I know you probably want something they can use right now. I have twin boys too. Some ideas are:
1. double wagon
2. sit and spin
3. ride on toys they push with their feet
I agree with the orange and yellow cars. Although with twins I would buy two because between my 2 (2 years apart) fight over who gets to drive it.
I also agree with push toys. They make those licensed cars you sit on and push with your feet. We used them indoors but I am sure that you can use them outdoors too.
This one is the princess one...but they make boy ones too.

Push toys are excellent! My son pushed things around for months! And loved every second of it...
