Hi. I am planning a birthday party for my son at McDonalds. I live about an hour away from most family and figure with it being winter that it would be easier for me to travel than for all of them. I was wondering if anyone here has done a b-day party there and what kind of stuff you brought (decorations, plates, cups, utensils). Also was wondering if it is ok to bring like chips or vege tray for the adults. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Also wondered if I should tip the worker that stays with us to help out or what. Just let me know. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

It would be best for you to call the McD's that you are going to, to find out their policies. Sometimes they vary. I am wondering if one of your family menbers would let you have the party at their home? If they will, get a party platter and soda at the grocery store. Have a cake and whatever else. The party is really for the adults at his age. So enjoy!

I'm pretty sure they do the decorating for you. The kids will be asked to choose what type of Happy Meal they each want.
I would just bring in the cake & snicky snacks for the adults. Probably if you ask--they may say no.
They even give out treat favors--my son got a McD's bowl and cup that he still uses and he's 5.
Have fun!

Most will say no outside food. Adults get McDonald's food. Only a cake or cupcakes from outside.

they put usually a balloon by each and the kids each get happy meal.

Check with them, sometimes more then 1 party at a time.

I've never had one there, but I've been to several parties there. Some sort of food tray for the parents would be very nice, so that they don't have to leave the party area to get food for themselves. As far as decorations, I think they do it themselves, and I don't have any idea about the tipping. I'd ask a manager about that one.

Hi D., Call the MacDonalds and talk to the Manager that will be on duty the day of your event. You can work out all the detail with that person better than anyone else. Taking additional food into the resturaunt can be frowned upon, but it is something you could work out with the mgr. They should do any decorating and have a cake for you...it should be included in the price of the party. You should tip the employee that is assigned to "do" your party if they earn one. Have fun.

We usually tip the person working the party the $10 depo, if you can spare it. I've never brought anything in other than a cake, but I don't see why it would be a problem. I just brought my family, the gifts, and cake. The kids play in the playroom till it's time to eat, and so on. I'd call them to check on decorating if ya want that.
