Hi Moms-
My son is turning 1 next month and I'm trying not to get caught up in planning a huge party but I really want to create something fun, festive and age appropriate for my son and our guest. Any suggestions?

Plan the party around your sons normal naps. I did a party for my daughters 1st birthday- 4- 6pm- just after her afternoon nap. we had about 10 people - pizza cake and ice cream..
keep the party short 2 or 3 hours.
If you try to do to much your child will be overwhelmed.
He will not remember the party.. So make it simple so it is fun for you and does not stress you out.

Hi D.,
I just had my daughter's first birthday party and it was a hit.
For entertainment, I hired a storyteller ( She cost me $150/hr)
For giveaways I gave blank books for kids to create they're own little stories. It can be picture books for the babies. They're cheap ($1-1.50 /c a flat rate shipping of $6) and great. Check out barebooks.com. Although it was not even necessary because the storyteller handed out books too.
To make things perfect the post office has children book stamps great for mailing invites & thank yous.
Hi D.,
I asked this question about a month ago, and everyone advised me to keep this party simple, because my baby wouldn't really remember it. I'm planning on doing the party after her afternoon nap, and just have simple decorations, balloons, etc. Nothing too big.
