Hi! My son's first bday is in July does anyone have suggestions about what to do? I live in the Chicago area. I thought about a park w/a bbq but it might be very hot outside here. I want to keep it relativey small/low key, but I know there will be atleast 20 people, w/7-9 kids ages 1-6 yr old.
With my dd first birthday (she has three older brothers) we did a gymnastics party. It was great for kids of all ages. Since my dd was walking since 8 months old, she could run along the trampoline and jump into the pit. Climbing and the obstacle course were slow but fun.
maybe poll some ideas from the older kids and see what comes to their minds.
Aww, I remember going through the 1st birthday thing with my girls:)! It's tricky when the kids are so little, but it's such a big milestone! Keep in mind that your son won't remember it except for the pictures and videos you take, so keep it simple and think "memories" that you want to have and that you want to give him.
I agree that the BBQ is too chancy, especially in Chicago. The weather is too unreliable and you don't need any extra worries on that day! Is the party more for the kids or the adults? Do you have a rough idea of what you want to spend? I was an event planner for years, so I may be able to give you some ideas if you add some details. There are lot's of things you can do that are super fun and inexpensive!
Will you have access to a water spigot? You can always say "if it is hot I will be running a sprinkler so bring your swim suits!"
