My 18 month old daughter sleeps in bed with me. Up until about a month ago - she slept in her owm bed with out a problem. She started waking up and and I couldn't get her back to sleep so i finally just began putting her in bed with me. She still wakes alot during the night but she will go back to sleppy quickly if I am right there. Anyway, I'm really wanting my bed back to myself and my husband. I have tried letting her cry it out... but it just gets out of control and goes on forever, it seems. Any suggestions?

My son was the same way and I finally decided to end it one day! I had a long talk about him being a big boy and talked with him about what scared him. We went shopping and I let him pick out a night light - yes we actually have a snowman night light year round now! And I also let him pick out a "safe puppy" to take to bed at night. We talked about everyone who keeps us safe - God, Mommy, Daddy, his puppy, etc. It did the trick for my little one and we got our bed back until our youngest was born at least!

We like the books "The No Cry Sleep Solution" and the "The No Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers". They both have a lot of good ideas.

Hi J.,
i've been having issues with my 18 mo old as well. he was the perfect little all night sleeper until about 2 wks ago. it all started with congestion that he was having that would wake him up at night...followed by teething(the sharp teeth). The last 2 nights, he's only woke once which is better than the previous 2 wks in which he'd wake up 3-4 times every hour or so. At first, I was getting him out of his crib, rocking him, putting him in bed with me. Some moms advised that I not take him out of the crib and instead, offer him a little water, and then lay him down and pat his back, singing or talking softly until he fell asleep again. Do not turn the lights on either. I've done this the past 3 nights and I'm hoping tonight he'll go back to sleeping all the way through. So far this method has worked for us and we havent had him in our bed for 3 nights. It's nice. :) It may or may not work for you but you may as well try. The first night I think I stood over his crib soothing him back to sleep for like 30 minutes twice throughout the night...and the last 2 nights only 5 minutes for one time only. So its getting better! Cry it out only worked for us when he was 6 mos old. Now, his cry is way too strong and loud for us to endure. So that method is OUT. The moms on this site gave me great advice and so far its working. Now if I could just get my son to regain his old eating habits, I'd be in mommy heaven. :/

Get the book The Baby Whisperer and stick to it. It worked great for me.
