18 Month Old: Awake at Night

My 18 month old has been going ot bed by herself for over a year now- slept the night 730 to 730- and was the happiest baby the rest of the day (plus a 3 hours nap int he afternoon). Just recently, she is awake at 2am, and sometimes again at 5am-- not fussing, but singing and counting and playing in her room! That doesn't bother me so much, but the next day, she is so cranky because she hasn't gotten enough sleep? Has anyone ever dealt with this and/or has any tips?

What can I do next?

Sometimes our 19 month old wakes in the early morning from 2 to 4am; I just give her a sip of water (change diaper if needed) and read a long book or two then she falls back asleep.

don't let her make it up with a longer nap...this will make sleeping worse at night.. is her room real dark.. make it dark with an extra sheet or towel on the window.. this will help... good luck

What is she wearing at night? Is she dressed warm enough yet cool enough to sleep comfortably? A lot of parents forget that the type of jammies, bed sheets, and blankets really account for restful sleep. Like is wakened by a chill or wakes on a damp sheet from sweat, she'll be up for a while until she's comfortable again. This is a suggestion I have seen on a couple of websites! Do you wear a tank top and shorts in bed in the summer? And then put your baby in heavier long jammies? I may be way off here, but it's something to think about...
