I'm desperate to find a gymboree sort of class for my 18 month old son. He's too active for "story time" at the library, and he loves to play and move around. Does anybody know of a cheap or even free 'open gym' sort of thing for toddlers? I'm looking for anything in the Sheboygan, or West Bend area. I'm a stay-at-home mom and there's only SO many activities we can do at home!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the ideas! I found a local elementry school that offers playtime and open swimming for toddlers for only $2.00. This should keep my little guy busy for awhile!

I live outside the Cleveland area but you may have this as well. We have a place that sells playground equipment and on M-W-F they offer a ‘free’ play time. Then they charge a very small fee. They have a bunch of the wooden swing sets up and the kids just get to play and play. My son is 2 and it is perfect for him. Here is their website so you can see it. You may want to see if your area has something similar. Good luck. I have also found some malls have little play areas too. And no, I am not in any affiliated with this place. I have also done parent kid classes at the YMCA. I am going to start Gymboree classes in January. I am finishing up a music class right now.

Is this in your area?: The Little Gym of Middleton

Also, you can "mall walk" in inclement weather.
There are some things you can do in your home: an exercise video, jump rope in the garage when hubby feels better and can watch kids, do pushup, ab work, tricep dips off of a chair, plank bridge for abs

Before we moved I had my son in Gymboree twice a week and it was such an awesome program for him especially because he is so active. I also had him in gymnastics once a week that he also loved because he got to run around and do whoops(flips) : )

Now he is old enough to run around outside with his friends but we still have him in karate.

good luck, I was in the same SAHM position with my son and those classes really helped.

Check your local YMCA for toddler or mommy and me classes. They usually have a variety of classes that are reasonably priced. Good luck.

I would recommend just going to the park or the kids' play area at the mall. At one point, we had our youngest in classes at the Little Gym (she is/was extremely active), however I thought the classes were a total waste of money. The kids didn't do anything they wouldn't have done at the park or at home! Maybe join a mom's group if you need to get out during the day, but unless you're rich and looking for ways to spend your vast fortune, I'd skip Gymboree and Little Gym.
