17 Month Old Digestion....

what does your child digest?? my daughter has always had problems with her bowels, but now i am starting to notice that things arent digesting like i think they should.... when she eats raisens, she will poop grapes, and ive noticed that when she eats tangerines, she will not digest them, there will be little peices of tangerines all in her poop....is this normal???

raisens, grapes, corn, nuts, gummy bears, ohh the lists goes on! Not everythings gets completely digested.

its normal..think about when you eat...if you ate a bag of carrots for dinner I bet your bowels will look orange and carroty. Also happens with Spinach, salad corn..I remember I gave my daughter a blueberry sucker and her poo was literally BLUE for a day. I asked her if she ate a smurf :)

I've noticed little pieces of mandarin oranges in my son's diapers, so I try to make sure to cut the slices small enough and not give him too much at a time. I've never given him a raisin, but I imagine that the same would happen due to him not really chewing it well. My son is the same age as your daughter, however he only has his front teeth (4 on top, 4 on bottom) and hasn't gotten any back teeth in yet. He does pretty well, but I had been holding off on stuff like raisins until he gets more teeth. I think that anything that maybe doesn't get chewed really well will have difficulty breaking down fully as it gets further "down the line." As long as it keeps moving regularly, I don't think there is much of a problem.
