15-Month Old Not Eating Table Food.

My daughter is not interested in eating finger food with the exception on crackers, fig newtons. She'll eat mushed bananas with a spoon, but not banana pieces with her fingers. I think it is a texture thing and have tried other bite sized fruits and vegetables with no success. She eats a variety of food still from jars. It's not a health issue, but I am curious if others have had a late bloomer to finger food and how did it work out for you. THANKS!!!!!!!!!

What can I do next?

Hi H.!
I had read in several magazines that it can take up to 15 times of tasting food before your child decides if they like it or not.
I would just keep trying to introduce different foods over and over again. Just remember we are such creatures of habbit so it takes us a bit to change what we are used to. There are so many "snacky" things you can give her these days. Dole (or whatever brand) pinapple chunks are really yummy, oatmeal, goldfish, cherrios...
Good luck!

As far as I know it is really common for toddlers starting out with table food to reject them around a year.
My Sophia didnt like veggies either unless they were in baby food jars. It took a long time for me to get her to accept them (when in actuality I think her daycare is the one that got her to like them). I tend to "overcook" the veggies a little for her (at first) so that they were really soft and could be mashed easily. I also had a grinder and would grind up what ever I was cooking for dinner and give it to her. It helped her to eat if she saw that she was eating what I was eating. It can take a while for a baby/toddler to accept new foods. Her most favorite things are rice and pasta.

I never had late bloomers when it comes to food, but I would just suggest to keep trying new things with her, with different textures. Even let her try things off your plate, that might peak her interest if she sees you eating it too.
