14 Weeks and 5 Days Pregnant with Twins.... and I'm Soo Uncomfortable All Day!

I have a sit down job which I guess is nice, and there's not too much stress involved. I do ok in the mornings but it seems by mid day my belly is aching and just plain uncomfortable!

Now I haven't actually gained any weight yet in this pregnancy so I just don't get it! I mean I feel like I'm 8 months pregnant!

Does anyone have any advice on what to do while I'm at work to survive the last half of the day? I have tried standing...which is hard to do when I have lots of typing to do, and doing some streches.... but any ideas would be great!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well as far as being uncomfortable.... I have kind of gotten used to it. It comes and goes and I have good days and I have bad. But the most exciting news is that I found out they are boy/girl twins!!!!!! I was hoping for one of each!!! It's going to be quite a ride! But I can't wait!

I know what you mean. I had the most achy hips within the first couple of months with my twins (who are now 10 months old). I used an exercise ball to sit on. It seemed really uncomfortable at first because my posture was not the best in the world. However, it did take some of the pressure off of my hips and it should help with your back too. Alot of the uncomfortable feeling usually has to do with bad posture. Try putting a pillow behind your lower back when you are sitting in your chair, this may help. I know it seems crazy that you could already be uncomfortable this early on, but your body begins to sdjust to the two babies right away. I believe this is why it is more uncomfortable so soon. Hang in there, it will get easier. I had less hip pain as the pregnancy went on. Congrats!!

Consider cutting your hours back. It's important that you take care of your body, and provide a safe "environment" for you children to grow and develop in your womb. Don't overdo yourself. And know your limits and follow them. If you really need to continue working full time, consider breaking up the work day/ load, and asking if you can do some work from home if possible. Shalom

Hi J.,

First off, Congratulations on your twins!! They are such a blessing. My twins are turning 3 years old on Tuesday and I cannot believe it.

I was only able to carry my boys to 28 weeks due to TTTS complications, but I know how you feel. I also work(ed) full time in an office position while pregnant. It's hard to sit for too long. Getting up and taking a short walk every few hours helped me. Also, have you looked into a prenatal cradle? That may help relieve some discomfort/pressure for you, especially as those babies grow.

You got some good advise already. If it's an option for your family, it may be a good idea to cut back your hours. Maybe even only temporarily while you are experiencing such discomforts. If you can sneak in a short rest in the afternoon before your older kids and husband get home, it could only do you some good.

Good luck, take it easy!!

Perhaps some prenatal exercises to strengthen your back and abdominal muscles might help. You could go to a class or buy a video.

I've also seen "tummy slings" that you wrap around your back and the lower part of your abdomen. These help take some of the strain off your back.

Are you able to get up several times during the day (perhaps every hour) to stretch and possibly walk around a bit? Perhaps you're already doing this.

You might consider a different chair; one that provides more support. Or roll up a towel and put it in the middle of your back as you lean back. Another idea is to elevate your feet by 6" or so by resting them on a couple of phone books. Short stools are also available. Some have a slant to them so your heels are lower than your toes.
