My 14 month old has had adnoid troubles since she has been born and is currently on rice and goat milk. We have finnaly decided to remove her adnoids (70% blockage) and put in tubes afer many ear infections since christmas. She is on two allergy medicine right now and we have been on many antibiotics. Has anyone gone through the surgery before. Any suggestions??? Anyone know if her allergies will be better?? She snores a lot now and a stuffy nose makes her unable to breathe from her nose.

What can I do next?

I actually had my adnoids taken out and tubes put in when I was about your daughter's age. I had ear infections all the time and my parents said having that surgery was the best thing for everyone! I was much better after and my parents were much happier!!! I'm sure everything will be fine!!! Good luck!

I went through this with 2 kids. Both came through it without any problems and it improved much of their lives. It is really good to deal with this now. One of mine was 5 before our doctor believed me and allowed us to go to a specialist. By that time, he had so much fluid built up that the specialist told us our son was pretty much deaf. He was a very smart boy and could read so the school teacher didn't pick up on it. Even though the surgery cleared up his hearing, he had missed some important years of learning how words should sound. To this day, that child doesn't speak as clearly as he should.

My son had tubes put in and his adnoids taken out when he was about 2. The thought of our child going in for surgery was scary, but in the end, it was a good decision because he started sleeping and breathing through his nose so much better and was a much happier child. My husband and I have to laugh though, because before the surgery, his favorite food was tuna noodle hotdish, and after the surgery, he HATED it! Good luck!

If it is just tubes and adenoids, it is a very easy recovery. When you have the tonsils taken out, that is when the difficult pain and irritation come in to play. But you will be amazed at the difference it will make in your child and how much happier and healthy she will be. Her allergies should be a little better, since the tonsils are staying? They fight infection and allergies, but the body is amazing. It can deal with a lot on its own. She may even be suffering from slight sleep apnea because of her inability to breathe correctly. This will help with behavior issues and even help her grow more! It did all of that for my little guy... it was wonderful.
although a little difficult on the nerves for mom, all will be well.

Hi-
My four-year-old had surgery last year. I was nervous, too. However, everything turned out fine. After having her adenoids removed and ear tubes put in, she's less stuffy and her snoring has improved. Her hearing is also better. Surgery was a good decision for us.
