I need ideas because my kids are not coming up with anything. My triplets will be 13 next month-1 boy, 2 girls. We promised them a party last year and did not happen so this is the year. My son says he doesn't really care because he would not have any one to invite anyway--as long as he gets cake. I don't want to make it girly though even though it is for his sisters as well. Pool party is out since they have a friend they would invite that I don't think she would behave all that maturely in that situation and possibly cause them to be kicked out. I am trying to come up with something else. it has to be friendly to younger also since I have an almost 4 year old (next month also) and I have a baby to watch. Give me some ideas mommas.

ETA: We live on the first floor of our building and there is no room to have it at home--which is what I would really prefer and what we used to do in the basement. I want them to have fun.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Still not sure what to do. My daughter likes the idea of minute to win it games but also wants music and to hang out. A lot of places by me are booked so not sure what we will do there. I looked at our back yard and since it is a winter that wasn' t, our yard is a muddy mess. Hopefully we will figure it out soon.

do they like anything? Harry Potter, Sims, Facebook, Angry Birds, etc??
Take whatever all three of them like and go from there. It's sad that your son doesn't think he has any friends to invite! Would you want to do something for the 2 girls at your house then do an outing to a movie or bowling or something like that for just your son and one buddy?

I have a daughter that will be 13 in June, and I hope the teens haven't hit your house like mine! I swear she has such an attitude lately! She is more self centered then she ever was as a toddler, lol.

How about something like Great America? If you buy a season pass, you can get a friend if free, so you save money there. Not sure how many friends we are talking here, but if they each have one BFF they can choose, it may work. Also you may have to wait until the weather is a bit better...

If you are thinking of a bigger party, how renting a pavilion at a park? Choose a park with a volleyball net and make it a BBQ. Again, if the weather is working for you.

How about Dave and Busters (or any other indoor arcade type thing). You can reserve a private room in most of those places and they can provide food and you can give the kids a set number of tokens. This is probably what I would do. Right up a 13 year olds alley.

Good luck.

Good luck.

Do you belong to a church where you could borrow a room? Is there a community center that rents out a party room?

I wouldn't make it "girly" or "boyish" but do something kind of neutral - not themed. Other than finding a place to rent a party room, I have no suggestions.

Do they roller skate? Ice skate? Bowl? You could have a party at one of those venues. Do you have a family member or close friend with garage they would let you use?

If you can find a venue, a "home" party is great, especially at 13. The kids could dance, play games, eat. Everyone would enjoy themselves, including you and your soon to be 4 year old.

Good luck and have a great time. My GD turns 10 next month!

This weekend we are having a "Minute to Win it" party for my son's 11th birthday (based on the tv show that was on the past couple of years). My son & I selected/adapted 10 of the tasks from the show and everyone will have to complete them under one minute. Lots of the tasks involve household items, ping pong balls, rubber bands etc. Google "Minute to Win it" to see the show and also to get ideas from other people. So easy & inexpensive to put together, and so much fun for all ages!
Since you can't have the party at your home, check out churches & park districts to rent a room for a reasonable amount.
Have fun!

Do you actually have to "go" somewhere for the party? I usually do parties at home for my kids, and invite all the family over. I know it sounds like a lot, but my family actually turns it into a potluck and we throw all the food on the table and have a good time, then do cake and presents, and the kids love it. I let my kids have a reasonable amount of friends over, and they feel so special since so many people come. The only other thing I can think of that isn't too much with kids, is to have it at the park, and I'm not so sure what the weather is like where you are!! Good luck!!
