My son is 13 months old. He eats breads and fruits (in solid form), rice cakes, puffs, crackers, goldfish etc great. Im having a hard time getting him to try new foods especially veggies, protein including meats and eggs, and pasta. I still feed him these by giving him stage 2 or mostly 3 baby food (pureed). Do you have any advice on getting him to try different and new foods? Im I rushing this? Your feedback is appreciated. Thanks! I forgot to add he does eat yogurt and applesauce.

What can I do next?

At this age, he can eat what you eat, with the exception of really spicy or hard things. Cut stuff in tiny pieces, and offer him a little at a time. Kids need to see the same stuff 8-10 times on average before they'll actually put it in their mouth, so be patient. Canned fruit, green beans, chicken, lunch meat, sweet potato chunks, scrambled eggs, cheese, yogurt, avocado, zucchini (almost NO flavor), the list is endless. Ditch the baby food, and he'll be more willing to try other things. (Have you tasted that stuff?) The second year, moms start worrying that babies are not getting enough food to live, so you're not alone.

I'd ditch the baby food unless it's for convenience sake when you're out. Otherwise most of the stuff (esp meat) is kind of gross.
Try ground beef sauted and well drained. More solid cuts of meat are often hard for babies to chew even when they are cut small. I added a little cheese to scrambled eggs (still do) and my son loved it. For pasta I started with whole wheat couscous since it was nice and small and worked up from there. For veggies, steam stuff (in the microwave is super fast and easy) then service a few pieces at a time and let him decide if he eats it or not. Just keep offering. I keep it in the fridge and he'll eat a lot, some or none depending on his mood. Just don't make too big a deal of what he chooses to eat (or not).
