If I switch laundry soap or buy a different brand of soap in the tub me and my kids break out in a rash as well. If it is an allergy, sometimes Benadryl works wonders.
I noticed my son had a rash all over his body yesterday. does anyone know if there is anything i can give him to make the rash go away. I woke up with the same rash so I am wondering if it is something on my bed covers. I just wanted to see if any other mama's have a remedy before i call the doctors... thank you in advance..

Hi J.,
You probably already resolved this. For future reference Strept Virus can cause a rash as well it makes the skin look red and splotchy and pale color. So if its an all over the body rash go to the urgent care or your doctor's office. This is definately contagious.

Try some Benadryl cream, if it doesn't go away, I'd have it checked out at the Dr. office.
It could be your detergent or fabric softener. Switch over to the "free" ones, like Purex or All detergent and Bounce free dryer sheets, which have no scents or dyes added. These lower the possibility of irritation and allergy. Keep the skin hydrated, drink a lot of water and and see if the switch helps.
The fact that you both appear to have the same rash would point to a shared illness or environmental exposure. If you have changed soaps/detergents etc that could be it. But medical advice here might be helpful as well. Does your son go to out of home care while you work? You could ask if anyone else is having this issue...
Hi J., I wouldn't try a home remedy on a rash. If your son has it and the next day you woke up with it, it doesn't sound like something you would be alergic too. Both of you all of a sudden having the same alergic reaction to something???!!! It sounds like something contageous and I would go to urgent care for both of you and have it checke out immediately. I hope you find out what it is...good luck to you!
Did he have a fever the last couple days, or so, with no other symptoms? Might be roseola. But, if you have it too, hmm, that is odd. Good luck!
Hi J.,
I agree with some of the other moms that medical advice is needed. I doubt it is some type of allergic reaction since you developed the rash a day later. Sounds like something contagious and may need a prescription to resolve.
Good luck.

The rash could definitely be due to detergents and chemicals in the products you are using in the home. There's lots of good information at www.greenkidzrus.com Of course if you or your child has fever or hives I'd call the doctor right away.
Maybe it's dietary. Dairy, wheat, eggs, are often a culprit.
Call the dr first, they may say it is just a skin irritation & tell you to give him benadryl. Is it a hives like rash? You could also go to a pharmacy & describe or show the pharmacist & they can tell you what is safe to give him. You can also try hydro cortisone cream, but the tube usually says to only be applied to small areas, or even calamine lotion if it itches.
