Anyone had any luck on getting 13 mo. old to stop grinding their teeth while they sleep? Can't say it is consistent. But I have noticed it twice.

What can I do next?

Hi- our dentist says there is nothing you can do to stop teeth grinding in sleep- and that it is pretty common in kids. It's nothing to worry about.

My daughter did this for about a month around the same age and it seemed to be while she was teething. she did it while she was awake and asleep. After that particular set of teeth were fully in, she just stopped on her own. Don't know if yours will stop on his/her own, but mine did so its a possibility!

If it is during teething then it is from being in pain. I use Hyland's teething tablets on my daughter and it keeps her from grinding her teeth.

I hate to tell you this, but I was a tooth grinder all my life, and still am at the age of 69.Dentists do have a guard to put in their mouth, but that doesn't stop it, only protects the teeth, and I'm not sure that's something to try at this young age. I have no idea why some people grind their teeth, but I hear my dad did this too.It may be irritating to other people, but it's no worse than snoring as far as I'm concerned.

If you haven't already, take the 13 month old to a pediatric (and I stress 'pediatric') dentist. You will get a lot of good advice about this and the dentist can track your child's teeth progression.

Hello,
I'm a mother of four I have teenagers and little ones that have went through the teeth grinding. What I've found out is watch your children's sugar intake as far as sweets ,juices and soda etc. You dont want them to start having nightmares because thats what happens next, sometimes even worms.I promise you will see a difference.

J. H-
My daughter too did the teeth grinding at night. The dentist said there's nothing you can do and that most kids outgrow it. She's 4 now and I still occasionally hear her do it. Her dentist said, it's very common and unless it's constant, it won't affect their teeth!
