Wondering if anyone has had this with their little one. He started it this past week. He use to eat really well. Now, he won't eat anything. Maybe 1-3oz of his bottle, no solids at all. Once in a while he'll eat fruit but rarely. Not sure what to make of it. I thought maybe he's teething? We started him on whole milk a few weeks ago, this past week he would vomit once or twice a day but would still eat. So, we thought this week when he wasn't eating, it was because of the milk. We cut that out totally but he still won't eat. I'm calling his doc tomorrow but just wanted to see if this is something anyone else has gone through.

Thanks,
P.

I'm going to stick my neck out and guess that your still trying to get him to eat baby food? If so, give him table foods. Give him a sippy cup, give him meals. At a year old he can eat anything yo uare eating, just cut up dinner into bite size pieces and let him feed himself. Kids won't starve themselves and he's probalby feelign the need to be independent right now, and especially outgrowing the need for pureed food, and it doesn't taste nearly as good as regular table foods.

Hi P.!!

He may have acid reflux, which could make him not want to eat because it makes his tummy feel badly. If it were me, I would go to the nearest health food store and get some flavored drinkable aloe vera. It tastes like juice. Give him 1 oz before each meal. My daughter didn't want to eat either because her tummy felt awful when she did. She was diagnosed with acid reflux as well. The drinkable aloe cured her.

*hugs* Good luck!!

My son went through something similar when he was around 12-14 months (he's now 16 months). The doctor said it had a lot to do with the child now coming to realize what they can and can't control. Since they now figure that they can control how much (or how little they eat), it's more of a testing their limits type of a thing. Also since they start to eat a bigger variety of foods, they start to become very picky and choosy. Some days and/or nights I remember making three or four different things for him to eat until he liked one. A variety of different foods may help too. Foods that he loved before, he didn't care for so much anymore. Try putting three of four different foods in front of him so he can chose too. This way he will still feel like he has control. My son too would also throw up from milk and/or foods a couple of days before a tooth was about to surface. It had to due with him swallowing the excess saliva instead of drooling in excess. It's not easy, but good luck!

P.-
We have gone through this with our son. He goes through times when he eats great and others when he won't. My only advice is hang in there. Offer foods throughout the day to him, and make sure some of them are his favorites. We have found that sooner or later, our son will eat but it has to be on HIS time table.
Good luck! I would check on the milk thing for sure though. Maybe, like our son, whole milk was to thick for him and he had to go to 2%.

My son is going through this right now. My Son Brandon is 9 and half months old and a friend said that babies go through this, either because they are going through a growth spurt or they just got done or just about to go through one. Brandon looks like he is going through a growth spurt. He was just at the doctors yesterday for his 9 month check up, and she said he is healthy, so, I then knew that it was because of the growth spurt. I used to give him 3rd foods in the morning ad 3rd foods at night, and 2ed foods in the afternoon. Well, now he is on the 2ed foods in the morning, 2ed foods in the afternoon and 3rd foods at night. I am sure that it will change again.. But I would call and talk to his doctor and see what they say and go from there..

Good Luck! :)

Ok, I know other posters said this was normal, but my nephew just did this, he is 11 months, and it turned out he had a double ear infection. He had no other symptoms other than not wanting to eat. Something ot think aobut.

I would have to say from recent experience with my 1 1/2 year old that it would either be an ear infection or with my son an alergy to mike. Once we started him on whole milk within a week or two he lost his appetite and started throwing up 2-3 times a day. He ate very little at drank very little. He was on table food, sippy cup during the day but still would not give up that bottle at night when he was switched to whole milk, and was very happy with that. So I was also very confused. The dr recommended Dairy Ease 100% Lactose Free Milk, easier to digest and noticed within a few days his appetite was back. Otherwise i would say and ear infection. My son gets them with little to no symptoms. The only way I really know is if he doesnt eat. Good Luck hope everthing turns out ok.
