12 Year Molars at 9? - La Conner,WA

My stepdaughter is 9 1/2. She says it feels like she's getting another molar. Can a child get her 12 year molars this early? She's big for her age. (Not overweight, just tall and already in need of a training bra) but have any of you experienced this? TIA

What can I do next?

My daughter is turning 11 next month, and has no baby teeth left, and a full mouth of adult teeth. The only teeth she doesn't have yet are her wisdom teeth. Kids really grow teeth on their own time, as far as we have experienced in our house.

I would think so. My DD was a few months from turning 5 when she got her 6 yr molars. And she is super tiny for her age. I had all of my adult teeth at age 9 1/2, and a full set of braces. My orthodontist said my mouth looked like most 16 year olds. I was his youngest patient at the time (in 1986!)

Yup!
My son is 10 and has lost all of his baby teeth, has all of his adult teeth completely in, and has his 12 year molars completely in.

When my daughter was 9 they said she had the teeth of a mature 11 year old. The good news is she is ready for braces and will be getting Invisalign next week.

There is no "set" age on teeth. All children are different.

My daughter started losing her teeth in preschool. By the time she was in 5th grade (10) she had all of her permanent teeth (except wisdom teeth) which were perfect with no orthodontics needed.

My pediatric dentist said she was in the 1% of his patients that never needed dental work. He also said it was normal for some kids to get teeth early and others get them late. There is not a time limit.

My daughter is 18 and just this June we did have her wisdom teeth removed. This was the first dental experience she had ever had... never a cavity, etc. She really got the good luck gene from someone in the family to be blessed with her perfect teeth.

She went on to start her period at age 12.
