So I’ve been staying away from caffeine since I found out I was pregnant, the only problem is when I walk into the office in the morning..It smells sooo good, I really would like to have just a cup, But I don’t want to do anything that might not be good for the baby..What do you moms think?? Did you have any caffeine when you were pregnant??

What can I do next?

Caffeine in moderation is fine. A cup is not going to cause harm. You can also drink decaf.
I drank coffee with all 3 of my pregnancies. The only time I skipped it is when it made me nauseous, and at the time most everything did so it wasn't singled out.
The thing is to not over do it.

I didn't drink coffee but I drank a fair bit of soda. My kids are as normal as the gene pool could produce.

Moderation..... If it makes you nervous that means its too soon. The coffee will aggravate the nerves of the pregnant woman too sensitive to it. Your clear for sure to be able to partake late in your 2nd trimester and through your 3rd. That is, if the baby is a good weight.

I had a cup of coffee (regular size-not latte size) every morning throughout each of my three pregnancies. My doctor said one cup is fine. I couldn't function without that cup especially during the first two pregnancies when I was working. Go for it!

I had some sort of caffeine everyday with both of my boys. Not sure I would have made it through the day without it. Especially when we found out I was pregnant again when our oldest son was 4 months old. Excuse me. Starbucks please. BTW it's totally fine....just don't over do it....I remember my OB telling me to say off the internet (I don't mean this site of course ;) and use common sense :-) congratulations!

my doctor always said 1 cup a day is fine, but coffee is one thing I cut when pregnant. It was hard at first, but got easier. As soon as I stopped breastfeeding, I went right back! Good luck and congratulations!

When I was prego with first the word was- one cup okay. So I did. But from the time I could feel baby (16 weeks?), after my morning cup baby did irratic fast movements, unlike any other fetal movements. I felt horrible and stopped all cafine once I made the connection. With baby number two the word was -no coffee. After feeling what it did to the baby inside me I would say, steer clear of caffeine. And I'm pretty sure thats the common advice today. Keep in mind there are many things we just don't know yet when it comes to science. It could be linked to ADD. I would advise you not to.

I drank a cup of coffee a day throughout pregnancy and nursing, because I was still in school and did badly without... It's totally fine!
In the US they kind of tell you not to, in Europe they say it's fine, and in Latin America no one stops drinking coffee anyway. So enjoy that one cup a day. You deserve it!

Last I heard (13 yrs ago), 2-3 cups of coffee a day was alright for a pregnant woman.
I never drank more than 1 cup of coffee a day pregnant or not, so I stuck with that.
If it's the caffeine you are watching, be aware of anything else you drink that has it (some tea, soda, chocolate, etc).

I am one to be extra cautious in pregnancy...
I also love coffee.
W/ my 1st I couldn't drink it. But I did drink a fair amount of Dr. Pepper.
W/ my 2nd...I drank coffee during the whole pregnancy.
Prego w/ #3 now...and again cannot drink it. But Coke makes my tummy calm.
Lol.
My caffeine kids are polar opposites. One is tough, one is sweet as pie. Don't think the caffeine made 'em one way or another. :)
You have your cup!!! Enjoy one for me! :)

My OB told me I was okay to have my Starbucks coffee as long as I brought her one :).

She also let me keep my acrylic nails, color my hair, and fly. All 3 of my kids are perfect.

I never gave up caffeine -coffee or otherwise for either of my pregnancies. Unless you're some special case, as long as you stay under 200mg a day, it's fine. You can have a cup or two!

I have chronic migraines and a cup of coffee is exactly what the doctor told me to take along with some tylenol to treat. Except for two things. Coffee as a pregnant woman makes me sick-jittery to the point where I feel nauseous and like climbing the walls. And later in pregnancy, it has given me heartburn like I swallowed the devil pitchfork and all. So, while it may smell good, it's honestly evil sauce. Instead I have a small Dr. Pepper or something with just enough caffeine to take the edge off....just my experience. It's probably "safe" to have one cup as long as you can cut yourself off at one but it might not be enjoyable.

I have 3 kids and had 1 or 2 cups when I was pregnant and nursing. I also would have an occasional glass of wine. My doctor gave me the ok on both. And yes all 3 of my kids are perfectly fine.

Are you kidding? One cup is not a big deal at all. Some people are at the office and that is all they drink all day long - that might not be the best idea. Here in the USA the government like to tell us NO because if they tell us YES people don't understand moderation. I drank tea in the very beginning, and then one cup of coffee per day with 1 shot espresso and 4 oz of milk.

They make decaffeinated coffee. Coffee taste without the caffeine.

Moderation. One or two cups a week not an issue, but if you're putting down several cups a day, then yeah, cut back!

I had two cups a day with both my pregnancies. One in the morning and one at 3:00 pm (at work). If I bought a strong brew from Starbucks, I would do half caffeine half decaf just to be on the safe side. Both my kids are fine (age 4 and 2).

I gave up coffee. Towards the end of my pregnancy my OBGYN said, "Well one cup a day won't hurt the baby." Really? You tell me that NOW?!?

Anyway, my thought is its okay, but you could also do decaf.

Have fun with the coming miracle!
