110 Outside! How to Keep Her Active?

It's been a 110 in T. where I live so my daughters school has restricted outside play for safety. They have a gym but the big kids get first dibs so the toddlers end up not having any afternoon play time outside of there class to run around. So in the evenings by 2 year old has started acting out. I think she needs to expell some of her energy but it's so hot outside so how do I let her do that. Non of the fast-food restaurants by my house have toddler play sections. So what can we do?

Talk to the school. The toddlers need to get some play time, too. Insist!

Sprinklers and kiddie pools are great, even in the evening since it is still in the 90's! :( (Will this heatwave EVER end???!!)

Get a dance or exercise dvd for kids. Sesame street put one out, I think.

Sometimes I just let the twins play in the bathtub for an extended amount of time before I bathe them. I give them cups, spoons, squirt toys, bubbles etc. It is like a mini pool and I don't have to sit in the heat and watch them play. :)

Go to the mall with another mom. Have the toddlers run races from one mom to the next. You'll be able to find a somewhat quiet place free of traffic. We did this with our kids when we were traveling across the country and the "natives" became restless.

Kids are resilient. I played in 100+ degree weather when I was a kid near Phoenix, Arizona. Get a small pool and let them play in the pool and yard. Set it up in the shade if possible. When they get too hot they will get back in the pool until they feel ok and then get out and play some more.

Good luck to you and yours.

Build an obstacle course inside your home, a sprinkler hooked up outside in the evening, take her swimming, let her run around at a park just bring plenty of water, give her very physical things to do inside (ex. Push a laundry basket of books around)

I can relate, and since we are basically in a drought, the water play really isn't a responsible idea - a great idea, but not feasible in this summer! What kind of cable do you have? Are there free video on demand options for kids exercise or dance videos? Or play freeze dance - play music and let her dance, then stop and she has to freeze...then repeat.
Kids are more heat resilient than we are...maybe get some sidewalk chalk and let her color outside when it is a little cooler.

I have the same problem, it is so horribly hot, that we end up going nowhere these days.
For some reason T. hasn't got it into it's head that it needs some indoor play places for kids, I live in a crummy area for indoor stuff, unless you want to go to pump it up, or bowling - not great for toddlers, and expensive there is nothing. All the pools are outdoors with no shade.
We are lucky enough to have an above ground pool, so we go swimming for an hour or so everyday, but the rest of the day we are indoors, we play the computer, watch tv, read, do a bit of painting. My Mall is crappy and boring, my Mcdonalds is filled to the Gills with germy kids - I have to keep my 8 yo healthy as he has a compromised immune system. My 3 year old runs in the house, back and forth, she does it of her own accord!
I don't have any great ideas, but I sympathize!
And after dark in TX is no fun at all, you can't see the fire ant beds or snakes, and can any one say MOSQUITO? even with spray on they bite terribly around here.
I have to really dig deep and remind myself why I live here sometimes. digging.....Nope can't find the reason.

i challenged my 2 year old to a pillow case race today that lasted almost an hour--we both got a pillow case, shoved our legs in it, and hopped around the house. I live in a tiny rancher, but we just did lap after lap with kidz bop music playing. It turned into a dance party--which we do just about every day when the weather is extremely hot or cold. I know this probably makes me a bad mom, but we also love to jump on my bed to expel energy. I wish this heatwave would just bite the dust already!

Our mall has a great play area - yours?

Park, but after dark for a few minutes so it is much cooler.

Sprinkler!

Have her do a work out video with you! My kids loved that when they were little.

Mall play area, library, obstacle course in your basement? LOL

Or take her to the park for 30 minutes with plenty of water, etc.

Do you have access to a pool or can you set up a small pool in your yard or on your patio/deck, etc?
