Hello!!! My 10 month old used to be a great sleeper---but for the past two weeks, he has been waking up with an hour or two of us putting him down crying. He isn't calmly crying either--he is very upset, with lots of tears. Once we pick him up, he will fall right back to sleep, but we have to rock him for about thirty minutes. He is fine for the rest of the night. We though it might be teething, but he never did this on his bottom teeth. Is this something normal that they go through?

What can I do next?

My son is teething right now and does the same thing. I have started giving him oragel and now he doesnt wake up crying. He finally sleeps throught the night again. You have to be careful how much you give him though bc it does numb the gums.

Our son went through that too. We chalked it up to teething too. Maybe try giving him some Tylenol before bed and see if that helps.

My 10 1/2 mo old little girl does the same thing. I don't know if it is normal but it seems to be a pattern for her. She wakes up twice a night crying. Sometimes she just wants to be held and sometimes she wants to nurse. It usually takes me 30 minutes to get her back to sleep also.

My eleven month old has just started doing this the past two weeks, exactly as you describe your child. My son is definitely teething, I took hom to the doctors, and they said that was the problem. If the molars are coming in like my son then this can cause the ears to hurt which is why your baby might be crying so much, I know my son's are. It sucks but I have just started to deal with it, I can't let him just cry. Besides as sleep deprived as I am at the moment, I also realize that he will be walking soon and He is growing way too fast, soon he won't be my baby anymore, so I actually enjoy that cuddling time in the early morning, middle of the night hours I get with him, without everyone else around. Good luck.
