10 Months Old Getting Tubes and Maybe His Adenoids Removed

My darling 10 month old is having tubes put in on Thursday. The doctor said that his adenoids might need to be removed as well, but he would not know until he did the surgery. I have heard and read so many different things on removing them and most people are telling me he is to young for this procedure. I would greatly appreciate any advice or previous experience you have for me.

What can I do next?

My oldest son had tubes when he was a little over one year old and then again when he around 3 and also had his adenoids removed also. My youngest just got tubes put in yesterday and he won't be 6 months old til the 14th. He did pretty good, he just cried alot after he came out of surgery cause of the anethesis medicine.

Hi C.,
My son had his tubes put in when he was 2 years old, and it cut down on the ear infections immediately. He then had his adenoids removed when he was 3. This also made a huge difference in his constant runny nose.

With the tubes my little guy was running around the same day, and swimming the next. With his removal of adenoids, he was in a little pain but nothing to serious.

You are going to believe the difference in your 10 month! For the better!

Best of luck!

Our eldest had tubes put in and her adenoids out when she was 18 months old. Prior to that she'd been having an ear infection every 4-6 weeks; afterwards, she didn't have another until she was 6 years old. Worked for us!

My daughter had the same thing done when she was 9 months old! I am so grateful we did it! She had sleep apnea and could hardle sleep at all without chocking. the night of her surgery she slept so peacefully with out a sound! It was wonderful!

Since then my two younger daughters had their tonsils and adenoids removed when they were 3 and 2. It was much easier for my 9 month old.

My now three year old had tubes and adenoids out at two and we couldn't believe the difference in the before and after!! He was having ear infections every month and since then he's been wonderful. A totally different child.....we wish we would have done it sooner!

Good Luck!

You'll likely see a dozen other little cuties at the surgery center when you take him. They usually take the youngest first, so you'll be in and out pretty quickly. My son had his adenoids out last year when he was about 18 months and we were 3rd or 4th in line because of the younger ones ahead of him. The procedure only takes a few minutes.
He was sleepy after the procedure, but was running circles around us the next day. He had some pain the 2nd day after surgery, but nothing Motrin can't handle. He was totally fine the day after that.
