So What Happened?

Thanks you all so, so much!! Turns out this is totally normal, heard of some 14 year old with baby teeth. My son is taking full advantage of it (he still puts the teeth under his pillow for the "tooth fairy") Thanks again I really appreciate your time

Hugs,
M.

Totally. He could take another three years to loose them all. I have a 13 year old just lost some.

Yes, it is normal. I had baby teeth into high school. I also didn't get my first tooth until I was 1, and I didn't lose my first tooth until second grade. If he is late with these other milestones, it makes perfect sense to me. Either way, he is fine.

No, this is not late, especially if he didn't start losing teeth til he was older. Some kids start at 5 and others at 8. My daughter lost all her baby teeth at 9, but my son will be 11 in June and still has some.

I don't think it is odd. My 4 year old has a loose tooth and that is a bit early compared to the others in her class. Development is random and I don't think there is a set rule for most of these things. Just think of puberty, there are early bloomers and late bloomers.

yep-- my daughter had to have teeth pulled because some were growing in and the babies weren't coming out-- and she had a small palette and extreme underbite so we started phase one of orthodontic treatment-- they pulled teeth to make room for new ones to grow in and a couple of them STILL haven't fully come in and she's 11

Hi M.,
When I was 13, it was time to get braces, but I still had 10 (I'm not kidding) baby teeth, and they weren't even a tiny bit loose!!!

My science teacher at the time was really nice, and told me he'd heard it was a sign of a genius (ha, ha), so it made me feel better.

Take care

My son is 11 and just over this past year has finally started losing more baby teeth. He still has 3 left. As long as the dentist doesn't see any impacted teeth, he should be fine.

It took getting braces for my son to finally lose over 10 of his teeth between the ages of 14 and 15. His teeth were too crowded and one of the roots on each remained. It was really disconcerting watching him pull out teeth with a tail! The roots didn't show on his xrays! He's got good battle stories now!
