Moms,
I am 34 weeks pregnant and currently I am 1 cm dilated. I have a very stressful job and really do not know what to do. I am nervous but then not nervous. I have a child already. I just keep on thinking what happened with her. I went to the hospital 2 cm dilated and it was eleven and went back to the hospital 8 am and was 5 cm. I just don't know if its going to dilate real quick or slow. Any ideas to keep me calm moms. I mean is this baby coming early and Should i just calm down.
doesn't mean anything- i was 1 cm dialated at 34 wks and gave birth at 42wks- induced! I was 2cm at 38 wks and 3 cms at 41 weeks. Good luck
***Don't stress over what you can't control...
It is not your first child...Child birth is statistically faster when it is not the first one. You could dilate very fast....

It could hold a child at 1cm for over a month...
and then dilate quickly right on your due date....
Take the information as it comes...and then smile and take it easy. Women deliver early or fast all the time, and they turn out fine. I know nobody wants too deliver in a taxi or elevator....but it happens and it's usually nothing they could've done about it, so why worry? I used to chuckle and say if someone is going to deliver in the middle of the mall....it will be me...only I could have that kind of luck....but it never happened.
Your job has stress?....laugh at everything as an irony. How ironic is it to have everything come down on you when your you are pregnant? Don't stress about the anxieties...some of it you may laugh about months from now as just being hormone related. I look back and laugh at petty stuff I stressed about when I was pregnant...LOL
No matter what anybody tells you on here....your body will still do it's own thing....so, relax. Enjoy the time you have now in your pregnancy...people holding doors open, occassionally waiting on you. When else can you get away with taking pee breaks this often, cutting to the front of long lines.... sitting down because your feet are swollen for no reason, and you can whine about how the baby just kicked your lung. Someone stresses you at work? Grab your belly and yell....watch the reaction...Tell them your going to deliver right on their desk if they stress you out. How about sitting in their chair and telling them your water just broke...LOL
Don't mess with a pregnant woman.
When all else fails....just smile inside knowing you are about to have maternity leave and won't have to deal with any of it!!! How nice it will to be able to stay home nice and cozy when the weather is cold.

Congratulations on another new baby.
I was 2 cm dialated for over a month with my son. i thought my son was going to be here early and so did one of my docs. but i went from mid april til may 30th being dialated. (my son was even 2 weeks late lol) i was under a lot of stress between that and other things going on i thought that that would have brought on labor ealy but it didn't. i would definately have a doc keep checking to make ure all is staying the same thou. good luck to you.
I wouldn't worry too much. I was dialated 1cm for a little more than 1 1/2 months. Just take what ever advice your doctor gives you. Everything you will be fine.
I had a very mellow yoga tape for pregnant women that I used. Only about 20 minutes (although it was also easy to just use parts of it if you didn't have time), the instructor also showed you how to make adjustments in the moves as you progressed thru the trimesters. I found the breathing and gentle movements very calming and soothing. I can't remember the exact name, but I bought it on Amazon.
I'm not really a yoga-type person, but this really helped while I was pregnant.
I was 2 com dialated for my last month and a half. Every pregnancy is different, you'll be fine, just don't stress.
With my daughter, I was 1 1/2 cm dilated for the last four weeks. I was working 40 hours a week at a stressful job, but I happened to work in the emergency room of the hospital I was going to have her in. Eight days before my due date I went in and was still 1 1/2 cm. That night and the next day I thought I was in labor and called the doctor, who reassured me I was not. Anyway I ended up having a very long labor and finally going into the hospital at 3am at 5cm and not having her until 4pm the next day.
I guess just saying it could go any way, very unpredicable, but it is not uncommon at all to be even a couple cm dilated for weeks beforehand.

I was 1cm at 34 weeks as well... and then SLOWLY went upto 2cm and stayed 2... finally they had to induce me 2days after my due date... Ofcourse each individual is differnet. Please dont worry..... from what I was told.... it doesnt matter when they come you'll never be fully prepared.....so try and relax...she/he will be happy to be in your arms regardless of how unprepared momma is :) Good Luck!!
I wouldn't worry about it. With my daughter I was 10 cm and fully afaced for almost 2 months. I just had my second child and with him I was 5 cm for 3 weeks and when I finally went to the hospital at 39 weeks I went from 5 to 10 cm in about 45 minutes. In fact it happened so fast that my son was born in the wheelchair. Of course I had also been leaking all day as well. But I wouldn't worry about it

Every pregnancy is different, I would take a deep breath and relax because that is not going to help you or the baby. I know its hard to because you just want the baby to be healthy but you can be 1cm for a while. If you are still worried ask your doctor or the nurse. I always felt better after talkin to mine and i had alot of questions.
Every woman is different and every preganancy can be different. I think you should talk to your OB/GYN or Midwife about your concerns. Is it that you want/need to continue working that is making you anxious?
Don't worry - You can be 1 cm for weeks.
I wouldn't worry to much. I was 3cm for over a month with my first daughter and she was 2 weeks late. With my second daughter I was 2cm for about 3 weeks. The baby will come when they are ready. If you are worried about it you can have your doctor check you. Just try not to worry and relax being stressed won't help you or your baby. Also I had thought my second daughter would come fast but she didn't. I was in active labor for 5 days with her and I wasn't dialating. Contractions would start get down to about 4-5 min apart and then stop. You will be fine just take everything slow. Good luck to you and your baby.

What did your doctor say? You must have seen someone to know you are 1 cm. I would tell your boss and see if you can cut down on hours for the next few weeks. Take your doctor's advice!! If s/he didn't say anything to you, call immediately and ask!
