If you’re concerned about it, schedule a doctor’s appointment with his pediatrician. You should be able to have the pediatrician in your former state fax his records to his new pediatrician. If not, just take him in anyways, and be sure to have his immunization card.

My 12 yr old gets this too. We saw an allergist and he said it is a sign of either seasonal or food allergies. Nothing to put on the skin that I know of unless it is itchy. You may want to get some allergy testing done.

I had this condition. My parents were told that "shepherds in the mountains that have never had human contact" have been found to have this condition. The prescription medication worked but was very expensive. Once I was "on my own" I couldn't afford it, but my first question was, "If shepherds didn't have human contact, how do we know they had it?" The doctor just gave me that stupid look. LOL

I have tried anti-fungal creme and it works wonders. Mostly mine pops up when it's warmer. Of course, I avoid the sun during treatment and until it's gone, because it's much more noticable after sun exposure.

Hi K.. My daughter had the same problem as an infant. Doctor said the same thing, she had eczema. Her's isnt as bad as it was at first, but she was perscribed the basic over the counter hydrocortisone 1% and aquaphor. I noticed when ever she was exposed to heat or the sun too long she would get the occasional white patches(but no itchyness). I notified the doctor about the problem and he said it was normal and to keep her moisturized and in sunblock. Hope my info helps.

There are several different types of eczema. I have the itchy, scaly, and flaky kind. I've had it since I was 2. As a child I had it on my feet, back of the knees, and inner elbows. My mom used to put socks on my hands when I slept, so as not to scratch. It got really bad in High school. I then learned that eczema has a lot to do with stress. I do have allergies to food and seasonal. I also have very dry, sensitive skin. Now that I am an adult I have it on my face and hands, sometimes on my inner elbows. I would think his skin would be better living in HI. Mine was completely almost gone when I went on vacation in HI. That moister climate is great if you have dry skin. I currently use Desonide cream, on my face. I have Clobestol Ointment for the rest of my body, but I think Triamcinolone Ointment works better. All three of these medications aren't to expensive. There are over the counter creams and ointments also. The meds aren't just for the itchiness. They help heal the patches, which prevents infection. Good Luck!

Try Vitamin E cream, it is very good, so is any diaper rash med. I like Udder Cream - it makes skin very soft and pliable and clear.
